Patricia

Christine Lampard (and Frank) have just named their new baby Patricia Charlotte. Thoughts on the name? I thought it was refreshingly untrendy. His daughters with his first wife were Luna and Isla- obviously a Spanish connection to reflect their mum, but very typical of this decade, whereas Patricia really does seem a big change away from that. I had him down as a Peter Andre type (wife names the kids...I mean how else do you have Junior and Princess with wife 1, and Amelia and Theo with wife 2??!!) but googled it and apparently the baby is named after his late mum. Very sweet.

Sorry...didn't mean to add Frank as an afterthought....I was just thinking about how it was her first child....

It's very much an old fashioned name to me and not one that I think is cute like some other old names .

At least it's a normal name and not made up like some celebs too lol

Kezebel · 21/09/2018 13:33

I understand and respect their wishes and reasoning, but can't help thinking Charlotte Patricia looks, sounds, feels better.

userblah · 21/09/2018 13:34

It was his late mother's name

PetraRabbit · 21/09/2018 13:54

Charlotte is nice but it's only one place outside the top 10...maybe they preferred a more unusual name?

Patricia is a refreshing name and more interesting than Charlotte.

Sleepykate · 21/09/2018 14:32

It's awful! So so awful. What will they call her for short? Pat? Patty? Trish?!!!

Itchytights · 21/09/2018 14:35

My Mum is called Patricia. So therefore am naturally biased!

I love it.

So much better than the attention seeking made up names you hear so often now.

It was Frank Lampards late Mother’s name and it’s a lovely tribute.

Good luck and congratulations them both .

youngestisapsycho · 21/09/2018 14:48

I think Patricia is a lovely 'normal' name... we need to bring them back!

ladycarlotta · 21/09/2018 14:54

oh god, it reminds me of mums in the 90s. Chenille sweaters and pearlescent nail varnish. I'm definitely not ready for Patricia to make a comeback.

greendale17 · 21/09/2018 15:01

Hate the name. Shortened to Pat-urgh no thanks.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 21/09/2018 15:07

I love it! Charlotte is a fine name, but so common now that it will become the Emma/Rachel of my generation. Patricia is also a fine name, is used (but not overused) in other countries, and allows you to call your baby Patsy, which is adorable!

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 21/09/2018 15:14

I can see why they chose it - his late DM and it’s also a very common Irish name, albeit for people 40+. I don’t mind Trish(a) as a nickname.

KellyanneConway · 21/09/2018 15:20

My friend has a Patricia, aged 8, also named after her mum. It really suits her, I love it. She also gets Patti and Patsy for short.

CalonGlas · 21/09/2018 15:22

I love it as Patricia - not wild about Pat or Trish.

Lancelottie · 21/09/2018 15:29

DD knows a teenage Patricia pronounced PaTREESSia.

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 21/09/2018 15:32

Patricia. It's nice, I like it.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/09/2018 18:05

It's an awful name, nice sentiment, but still, no.

MinaPaws · 21/09/2018 18:07

I quite like Pattie and Patsy for shortened versions. Noyt a name I like. the PTRSH sounds so close to each other always sound quite harsh and ugly. Also the Patricias I know are all very quaint souls.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 21/09/2018 18:43

❤️ Patricia Charlotte.
Many congratulations Christine and Frank. 🍾💐

BabyItsAWildWorld · 21/09/2018 18:59

I love it.
It's such a change and unexpected with a lovely sentiment.
Good on them.

3ChangingForNow · 21/09/2018 19:02

Patsy or Ricki for nicknames is nice.

EdWinchester · 21/09/2018 19:05

It's so awful. I was really surprised at their choice. Stick it in as a middle name if you must.

What on earth will it be (inevitably) shortened to - Pat, Patsy, Trish, Trisha?

Just gruesome.

(But not as awful as Boo - which is what Chris Evans' poor daughter has been named)
