Patricia

Christine Lampard (and Frank) have just named their new baby Patricia Charlotte. Thoughts on the name? I thought it was refreshingly untrendy. His daughters with his first wife were Luna and Isla- obviously a Spanish connection to reflect their mum, but very typical of this decade, whereas Patricia really does seem a big change away from that. I had him down as a Peter Andre type (wife names the kids...I mean how else do you have Junior and Princess with wife 1, and Amelia and Theo with wife 2??!!) but googled it and apparently the baby is named after his late mum. Very sweet.

I named our dc after late grandparent and father so I think their reasoning is lovely. They both look so happy. I don't think I would pick that particular name and feel it is old fashioned but various shortenings could be really cute. She is protestant of Northern Ireland so i would associate patricia as catholic but none of my business I know.

TwistedStitch · 21/09/2018 19:07

I think it's lovely. And Patty and Patsy are nice shortenings too.

MissLingoss · 21/09/2018 19:07

Better than Boo and Walt, the names Chris Evans and his wife Natasha have given their newborn twins.

Don't think I'd choose Patricia myself, but I think it's an elegant classy name.

LuluJakey1 · 21/09/2018 19:09

My Aunt Patsy is a Patricia.

GreyGardens88 · 21/09/2018 19:11

I think it's better than another Amelia, Ava, Evie, Imogen, Charlotte etc etc etc

MikeUniformMike · 21/09/2018 19:18

I like it. It's nice as a middle name too.

FlamingJuno · 21/09/2018 19:22

I have many Patricias in my life, they're all in their 70s and early 80s. It's too soon for a Patricia revival IMO, although it's quite a nice name. Tish for short, not Pat or Patsy - horrible.

dustarr73 · 21/09/2018 19:22

but can't help thinking Charlotte Patricia looks, sounds, feels better.

I thought the same.I dont like Patricia.Patsy is an ok nn.I never thought f Ricki,i much prefer that.

userabcname · 21/09/2018 19:43

I like it. It's a family name for me and will be using it as a mn if I ever have a DD.

huggybear · 21/09/2018 19:56

I think it's sweet.

To be fair Christine and Frank are old fashioned names.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 21/09/2018 20:23

Horrendous name- much nicer as a middle name tribute...baby Pat Confused

mikado1 · 21/09/2018 21:33

Their names are 'Of their time' though, doesn't mean they go for old fashioned names! Patti is cute. Ricky absolutely awful! Patricia wouldn't be my pick but I agree a lovely reason and as they all do, it will end up being 'her'. Congratulations to them!

EspressoPatronum · 21/09/2018 21:37

Dh's teenage cousin Patricia is Tish for short.

fashionfruit · 21/09/2018 21:57

It is so, so awful

RiverTam · 21/09/2018 22:14

Don't like the name or any of the shorts for it. Nice that he wanted to honour his mum but I would have kept it as a middle name myself.

passwordfailure · 21/09/2018 22:20

Sorry no, for me it's a 50 year old librarian.

Pieceofpurplesky · 21/09/2018 23:17

So judgy. He is honouring his late mother. Patty, Patsy, Tris .... like all other children she will become her name

RedDwarves · 21/09/2018 23:34

Patricia is awful, as are all of the shortenings: Patty, Patsy, Trish, Trisha.

Crunchymum · 22/09/2018 08:27

I two DD with old lady names but not a massive fan of Patricia (was one of my nans name)

Secretlifeofme · 22/09/2018 08:31

I teach a Patricia with the nickname Trixie, which is cute I think.

MrsBonnie · 22/09/2018 18:03

My name is Patricia 😂 laughing at some of these comments. I can’t blame you though, I’ve always hated my name. I’m mid 20s and it’s dated even for me.

Enko · 22/09/2018 18:20

My MIL was Patricia she didn't like it felt her sisters (Irene and Mavis) had the prettier names. I much preferred hers.

it is oldfashioned though but I think about the age we are going into becoming fashionable.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 22/09/2018 18:22

Christine is from NI. There are lots of patricks and Patricia’s here. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. Suspect the name is after someone close to her.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 22/09/2018 18:24

And I’ve now just read that it’s after his mother so there ya go! Grin

BonnieF · 22/09/2018 18:32

It’s ahead of the fashion curve.

Stereotypical 50s / 60s names like Patricia, Sheila, Linda, Keith, Graham, Nigel are due for a comeback.

Ok, perhaps not Nigel Grin
