Opinions on the name Bambi for a girl?
We love it but would expect some negative opinions so just looking for thoughts Smile

No. Just no.

Passthecake30 · 11/09/2018 08:13

Why would you do that?Shock

thelionsden · 11/09/2018 08:14

If you want to name a dolly get a dolly. This is a living human being.

WerewolfNumber1 · 11/09/2018 08:15

Fine for a nickname, horrible for an actual name.

Imagine a teenage goth who’s angry at the world and has to introduce herself as bambi and put up with the jokes. Or a mid 30s hard nosed business executive trying to be taken seriously in meetings. Don’t just think of the cute baby when choosing names.

PolkerrisBeach · 11/09/2018 08:18

Fuck no.

You do realise you're naming a baby and not a kitten?

Swifey · 11/09/2018 08:19

Wasn't he a boy, for a start?!
Secondly, just no; why saddle the poor child with that abomination of a name......imagine when they finish being cute and cuddly and have to go for a job interview..,,,,
People will snigger, so why do it. Give her a proper name and then give her the nickname if you really have to.

villainousbroodmare · 11/09/2018 08:20

The worst. Sorry.
You could use it as a family nickname if you love it but you must give the girl a real name.

ElectricCandlelight · 11/09/2018 08:21

My sons nickname is bambi, short version of bambino. I imagine he will hate it as he gets older!

NotANotMan · 11/09/2018 08:22

Hell no

First thought we Belles escort friend in secret diary of a call girl.

You are naming a person, who will not always be wearing a velour sleepsuit or a hat with bear ears. Call her bambi as a nickname if you wish but please give her a name that goes past toddler age.

chasinggarlic · 11/09/2018 08:26

Haha

Bellabutterfly2016 · 11/09/2018 08:29

Are you serious that's just ridiculous - this is a joke right?

There's so many lovely names out there why would you do that to a child?

I however was in Hospital with a woman when I had my daughter who wanted to call hers Pocahontas (an avid Disney fan!) but her husband didn't like it so they went for cleopatra........................

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 11/09/2018 08:33

Well there may be an Augustus arriving soon (other thread) so Bambi is fine.
What about Aladdin?

CherryAide · 11/09/2018 08:35

This is 100% not real nobody is that cruel 🤣

Mailfuckoff · 11/09/2018 08:38

We had a bambi at school. She hated it, no one believed it was her real name, everyone took the mick. Please don't afflict that on your child.

Milkmonster2 · 11/09/2018 08:38

Well I that it's really cute. But not as a full name, could you imagine being in your 40s called Bambi?!
A great nickname she can choose to carry on (or not carry on, if she dislikes it)

Icklepup · 11/09/2018 08:39

No!

Mummy2one2016 · 11/09/2018 08:39

swifey I often think people forget bambi was a boy so was thumper. I think the fact all bambi clothes are pink and for girls causes some confusion.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/09/2018 08:40

Think twice if you’re mother.

Cbeebiesrehab · 11/09/2018 08:45

This is definitely not real. No one could think it was a good idea to name their daughter after a male, cartoon deer.

Sunflower321 · 11/09/2018 08:46

I wouldn't, but it's no different to Teddy.

PassportBridgetPants · 11/09/2018 08:46

Could you pick a similar name from another culture like Bamba (Swahili) or Bambia (Italian)? Still very unusual and with the definite possibility for Bambi as a nn. That said, I knew a Nicola known as Bambi so it doesn't have to be that close...!

Mumthedogsbeensick · 11/09/2018 08:48

It sounds like a porn star name to me sorry

Lweji · 11/09/2018 08:50

I'll be surprised if you get positive opinions.
