Any Formula 1 fans out there? Boy names....

Title says it all really! My other half comes from a family obsessed with formula 1...he was named after Senna and there's a couple more F1 names in his close relatives.

I'd love to carry on the tradition but don't know if it just sounds absurd. I love the idea of Jenson, but is that too much? With a father named Ayrton? 😂

His favourite driver is Kimi Raikkonen...I'm still not convinced by Kimi as a boys name! His argument is it's a very common boys name in Finland. My point...IN FINLAND.

Guess I'm just asking for F1 names that maybe aren't as obvious but still niche? Asking the earth, I know. Any ideas welcome!

how about going off piste entirely and choosing some of the corner or circuit names;

Suzuka
Piquet
Parabolica ?
Monza

But I would be taking your husband's tradition in the spirit it is meant and choose a name that is in memory of a lost driver.

I would choose Jules - maybe not one of the great drivers, but someone who lost their life in an era where the sport is supposed to be at it's safest.

Robert Kubica is also just a lovely man and an inspiration.

Choose someone who your boy can learn about and be proud of. A good person as well as a talent.

Now that I think of it, DS, exH and current bf all have F1 names!

Anyway...
From favourite drivers, Louis or Michael (Ayrton being already taken).
As decent names Michael or David. Or Mika.
How about Michael, nickname Mika? You'd get 2 in one, albeit a bit ironic.

Roland (Ratzenberger). He died during qualifying the day before Senna and his death has always been a bit overshadowed by what happened on the Sunday.

I know a couple and one of them is an F1 fan. They opted to use his middle name as a way to honour the sport and they used Stirling. Really suits him.

Being an F1 fan, I would notice the theme with having a Jenson and a father named Ayrton. However, I think it would also be very cute and cool. Plus, I just think Jenson is a cool name in general.

LANDO (Norris) is an up-and-coming F1 driver. Lando is a great name.

I would think it needs to be after a driver or figure in F1 that you and your husband admire.

Ayrton was my absolute hero, I was devastated when he died, but I first discovered F1 because of Elio de Angelis, a great driver who also sadly died too young. Always admired Jim Clark, Jochen Rindt, Jack Brabham, Gerhard Berger was always nice and he was one of Senna's closest friend in racing.

I'd agree that it needs to be a known name/legend in F1, much as Lando is a fab name, he is only just starting out.

It's official....Formula 1 definitely has the best boys names out there! Think of any other sport...Rugby, Football, Cricket....I don't think the most famous players have such fun and interesting names ☺️

@franklymydearidontgivea unfortunately for me, that man for my other half is Kimi Raikkonen! I think I'm pretty set on not going for it, but Mathias (his middle name...) has been added to my list.

Brilliant your OH is Ayrton and his brother is Emerson! I like 'Emmo' too for short, we call our DS Emmy which is cute whilst he's little, but Emmi is groovy for an older boy.
