Any Formula 1 fans out there? Boy names....

Title says it all really! My other half comes from a family obsessed with formula 1...he was named after Senna and there's a couple more F1 names in his close relatives.

I'd love to carry on the tradition but don't know if it just sounds absurd. I love the idea of Jenson, but is that too much? With a father named Ayrton? 😂

His favourite driver is Kimi Raikkonen...I'm still not convinced by Kimi as a boys name! His argument is it's a very common boys name in Finland. My point...IN FINLAND.

Guess I'm just asking for F1 names that maybe aren't as obvious but still niche? Asking the earth, I know. Any ideas welcome!

The more I hear Stirling the more it grows on me.....but I just can't get Malory Archers voice out my head when I say it!

Oh Jules would be nice

IMissMargaritas · 02/09/2018 22:45

@TokyoSushi much as he's a McLaren fan...I worked on Mamma Mia in the west end for 4 years. Definitely no ABBA references for me 😁

Pascal?

Damn, I was going to suggest Ayrton. I'd be inclined to go for something like Sebastian, Max or Lewis unless you have connections to another country, as the F1 connection would be a bit more subtle than if you went for Kimi or Fernando.

You absolutely can't call a girl Senna, with or without a dad called Ayrton. You can't call your child Laxative!

JustLurkingAway · 02/09/2018 22:51

Lando? (Not technically F1 yet but pretty much)

IMissMargaritas · 02/09/2018 22:55

DP is LOVING all these! I'm also really enjoying working out how many of these I know....I've only really got into F1 in the last few years. F1 was always Sunday viewing in my house growing up, but I never really paid attention until meeting DP.

Top of the list so far...

  1. Max
  2. Jenson (still haven't totally let go...)
  3. Reubens
  4. Sebastian (I love Seb, and my sister in law loves Vettel, much to DP's annoyance. Race day is hilarious when we all watch together 😂)
  5. Stirling

Keep them coming ladies! Lovely to see some other fans on here too ☺️

@JustLurkingAway DP has been keeping a keen eye on F2, and is a HUGE Star Wars fan to boot 😂

I should also mention that list is comprised of names we both like. I totally wouldn't have vito'd half of these!

I really like Stirling if you're discounting Michael.

LivLemler · 03/09/2018 05:46

Could I add Ross (Brawn)?

I think we had most of these on our boys list.

Zoflorabore · 03/09/2018 05:54

This is so funny!

My dp is the same with F1, drives me crazy.
I was pregnant in 2010, due February 2011 and we had Sebastian as our boys name.

She is called Lucy Grin

I love November-March when we get a break from it.

WooYa · 03/09/2018 06:28

I wanted to called DS Sebastian after Vettel but DH is a Lewis fan too Angry should have just LTB Grin

Ginnotgym · 03/09/2018 07:11

Ross Brawn is my husbands boss - he'd love to know MN are chatting about using his name for a baby Smile

We were going to use Jacques if we had a boy, but had a girl so used it for her middle name instead Grin

UntilTheVeryEnd · 03/09/2018 07:11

I know a little boy called McLaren? Could you go down that route? I also know a baby Jenson - cute name for a cute baby x

Marmite27 · 03/09/2018 07:24

William (Frank Williams)
Gilles (Villenurve)
Jody (Shecketer)
Eddie (Jordan)
Christian (Horner)
Nicki (Lauder)
Emerson (Fitipaldi)

I know a little boy named Kimi, dad is a huge F1 fan, but I think grandma bring Kim managed to clinch it.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 03/09/2018 07:40

I can’t believe no one has said Murray yet, for the mighty Murray Walker.

Sterling is a brilliant name too.

I met a toddler Senna once, all I could think was your son is named after a laxative.

FogCutter · 03/09/2018 07:45

Brilliant names! I love

Enzo
Jensen
Nico

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 03/09/2018 07:49

Austin

(The new US circuit)

scrivette · 03/09/2018 07:50

Jenson is a great name (maybe slightly biased!)

Nico was one I really liked but DH preferred Nicholas.

How about Bernie?!

HarryBob · 03/09/2018 07:52

Stirling & Emerson were both on my list, along with Jenson - all vetoed by DH who is equally F1 mad. I think all 3 are lovely names.
We were going to go with Lola for a girl after the constructor.
You probably don’t want an Alain with your DH being an Ayrton Grin

megletthesecond · 03/09/2018 07:53

Nigel will come back and it'll be just ahead of the curve.

Are there any circuits you could name him after?

seeingdots · 03/09/2018 07:56

Juan-Pablo all the way!

smeerf · 03/09/2018 07:56

I had Jenson vetod as apparently its "too obviously F1" - that was the point DP!

Drivers are overrated - how about Ross (Brawn), Adrian (Newey), Christian (Horner), Maurizio (Arrivabene), Toto (Wolfe)? Ok, maybe not the last couple!

A previous poster already suggested it, but how beautiful would Jules be, as a tribute to Jules Bianchi. I'm getting all teary!

smeerf · 03/09/2018 07:58

Oh, oh, if DP is Ayrton, surely he needs a little Bruno! Adorable!
