Seriously considering this, thoughts?

For a boy obviously!

Middle name will 99% be Francis.

PixelAteMe · 31/08/2018 16:28

I like it. Vastly underused.

sexnotgender · 31/08/2018 16:30

Thank you.

Our other front runner is Rowan.

So Giles Francis or Rowan Francis.

And yes both not very common.

I love Giles Francis! The two names go very well together.

sexnotgender · 31/08/2018 17:06

Ah you’re too kind PixelSmile

I love rowan and Francis, but not keen on Giles, sorry

sexnotgender · 31/08/2018 17:09

Don’t be sorry, all opinions welcome.

Giles is a great name.

BareBelliedSneetch · 31/08/2018 17:16

I like it.

It would probably be a forerunner for mythical No3. (No3 is NOT happening!)

Cbeebiesrehab · 31/08/2018 17:27

Underused, uncommon and quite cute. Picture a chubby baby with rosy cheeks. Can’t see a downside to it really apparent from the odd ‘farmer Giles’ comment which, if that’s the worst a kid can get, he’s doing pretty well!

mimibunz · 31/08/2018 17:29

I love it!

percheron67 · 31/08/2018 17:29

Love the name.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/08/2018 17:30

I really like Miles but not keen on Giles strangely

sexnotgender · 31/08/2018 17:33

Thankfully we’re not big in the farming community Grin
Weirdly I love Giles and don’t like Miles Smile

Giles is a good name. Much prefer it to Rowan. I am an impatient person and would find it very irritating to have to explain constantly which sex my baby was, which I imagine happens a lot when the name is used for both boys and girls.

sexnotgender · 31/08/2018 17:39

That is a good point Tiger, I’m not sure patience is one of my strong suits either!

I am 50, and for my generation it would have been a no-no as it had an OO-AArgh, Farmer Giles connection.
If we met anyone called Giles it was funny, before the poor bloke had even said anything
A bit, I think, like the connections people make with Sharon and Tracy.

But seeing this thread, I realised that that has passed really, and I can't work out why a perfectly good name like Giles, got so much stick!

Cbeebiesrehab · 31/08/2018 17:42

I considered Rowan for my son but was put off it by the influx of little girls being named it. It hadn’t really occurred to me that it was a girls name until looking at naming sites. Coincidentally the name we chose some people also consider unisex🙈

AdaColeman · 31/08/2018 17:42

I really like it, and much prefer it to Rowan.

steppemum · 31/08/2018 17:44

Its funny, to me Rowan and Giles are SUCH different names, I find it interesting that you like those two

AnyaMoondial · 31/08/2018 17:47

Really like Giles.

Singlenotsingle · 31/08/2018 17:50

Friends of mine have got ds Giles and dd Rowan

KoalasAteMyHomework · 31/08/2018 17:50

I like it but it does remind me of the Buffy character (his first name was Rupert but everyone called him Giles)
If you like it then go for it!

sexnotgender · 31/08/2018 17:57

I forgot about Giles in Buffy!

OP posts:
BareBelliedSneetch · 31/08/2018 17:58

Giles in buffy would be a reason for using it!
