Partner thinks name is too feminine for boy

Hi,

We're struggling to name
No. 3. It's going to be a boy and I really like Inigo but my partner thinks it's too feminine and pompously middle class... I don't see this and tbh, I don't want an overly masculine name either.

Boys are SO much harder to name!

Sorry if I'm being dense, I've never heard it before!

AmyRhodes · 29/08/2018 13:40

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/08/2018 14:24

OctaviaOctober · 29/08/2018 14:44

AuntieStella · 29/08/2018 14:57

As he likes Bear, then how about Rupert, Edward or Theodore?

(but not Paddington or Pooh)

Monday55 · 29/08/2018 15:01

Ichigo?

Ploppymoodypants · 29/08/2018 15:03

I love it. I admit I did immediately think of Inigo from the Pricess Bride, but he is a brilliant character. Love that film. So happy connotations to me. But like pp said, if you DH doesn’t like it, it doesn’t really matter why. Back to the drawing board. And yep boys names are very hard. Here was my list if that helps at all.

Rupert
Woody
Otto
Diggory (shortened or Rory)
William

GreenTulips · 29/08/2018 15:05

Orry
Woddy

donquixotedelamancha · 29/08/2018 15:06

Inigo is an awesome name.

Watch the Princess bride with him, that will change his mind.

Alternatively watch 300 and suggest Leonidas, he can't complain that's too girly.

EvilRingahBitch · 29/08/2018 15:08

Jago’s nice. I know a very cool Jags.

EvilRingahBitch · 29/08/2018 15:09

(Jago’s nice except that iPhone autocorrect can’t cope with it)

BasilFaulty · 29/08/2018 15:09

'I am not left handed!' Grin

ShowOfHands · 29/08/2018 15:18

I love love love Inigo. It was one of my top choices for ds. I also liked Sacha, Ivo, Cosmo, Caspar, Amos and Bram. We went with Raphael in the end.

Katurah · 29/08/2018 15:19

I thought it was indigo spelt wrong 🙈

TatianaLarina · 29/08/2018 15:23

Love Raphael.

Jago is really cool. Would that be a good compromise OP?

BellBookandCandle · 29/08/2018 15:24

What about Edward or Theodore - but called Bear - but naff maybe but then when he's older he has the choice of names.

What about Atticus, Buddy, Quentin, Leif, Silas, Noah, Moses, Elijah or Coen??

Good luck naming him Smile

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 29/08/2018 15:27

I love it.
And I love the Princess Bride but def wouldn’t put me off it.

lynmilne65 · 29/08/2018 15:33

Pipkins !!!!

CaptSkippy · 29/08/2018 15:39

Ugh, I hate it when people protest that a boy's name is too "feminine". It's like they are trying to turn their sons into macho assholes before they are even born. What is wrong with "feminine" names? A name is just a name. Can we leave the misogyny out of this?

Though do pick a name you both like.

Flamingosnbears · 29/08/2018 17:02

Wouldn't t say it was feminine in my opinion...
