Love all your names. I would go for Cordelia and Ernest off those lists.

Thomasina would go beautifully but maybe too similar to Wilhelmina.

MikeUniformMike · 20/08/2018 20:10

Wolfgang or Constanza.
Using Leopold unfortunately rules out Leopoldina.

strawberrypenguin · 20/08/2018 20:11

Cordelia and Ernest

DwangelaForever · 20/08/2018 20:40

Cordelia!

MrsBonnie · 20/08/2018 20:45

I love Emmeline, it's my #1 girls name. Classy but not too popular at all!

Cecil is yucky sorry. Maybe Arthur, Henry or George?

Wizotto · 20/08/2018 20:53

Cosima and Otto...

Dani18 · 20/08/2018 21:38

Tabitha and Emanuel are my favourites x

ButterflyOfFreedom · 20/08/2018 21:42

Cordelia or Emanuel

moredoll · 21/08/2018 02:35

Tabitha and Emanuel. Don't like Cecil.

Ginandplatonic · 21/08/2018 02:45

From your lists Cordelia and Emmanuel.

If you're looking for suggestions Henrietta or Albert (Ina, Leo and Bertie is so cute!).

And since you've gone for Germanic and out-there already I'll throw in my all time favourite girls name Elfrida! (Had all boys so didn't have the opportunity to go for it myself!)

OneOfEach2 · 21/08/2018 05:50

I love Ernest 😍

saratustra · 21/08/2018 15:29

Another vote for Cordelia and Ernest. My daughter is called Cordelia!

Gorgeous names.

To the sharp pp - fed up with that attitude. If you are going to insult people do it properly - Waitrose is consistent with the names, M&S and avocados definitely not.

SJane45S · 21/08/2018 18:07

Any of the girls names - prefer Evangeline to Emmeline & suggested it for DD 2 but DH said no! I like Emanuel but not the others - the only one i know though is a Manny

kenandbarbie · 21/08/2018 21:01

Girls

  • Emmeline
  • Tabitha
  • Cordelia
I like all 3! Especially Cordelia which is on our shortlist of 2 for our baby!!

Boys

  • Emanuel
  • Ernest
  • Cecil
Hmmm I'm not so keen on your boy choices. I think Ernest is best.
poochuspoochus · 22/08/2018 13:51

Cordelia is my favourite of your girls names and I think Emanuel is actually a really great name. I see your first two children use nicknames and I think Manny would be really cute for Emanuel.

ZebraKid71 · 22/08/2018 15:29

Is there any group of people that mumsmet actually like? You get slated if you like names that are considered working class, slated if your names are too posh, slated if they're double barrelled. They should just have a post with a list of names that are deemed acceptable and be done with the rest of the posts. Confused

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/08/2018 18:24

Cordelia and Emanuel.
Demelza
Cedric

averylongtimeago · 22/08/2018 18:35

Zilpha for a girl.

If you want unusual, Ian. There were no boys called Ian last year at all.

BakedBeans47 · 22/08/2018 18:38

Chardonnay and Diesel ;)

Or Emmeline and Emanuel.

Ernestine is also quite nice for a girl :)

SilverySurfer · 22/08/2018 19:01

Outstanding names OP. If you're looking for something a little different, how about Ichabod? Ichabod Crane was the main character in Washington Irving's 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' and a biblical name.

herecomesthsun · 22/08/2018 19:39

I think Nicholas or Alexander would go quite well with the distinctive Eastern European vibe and are lovely names that I would very happily use myself.

I would not use Cecil in case of being nicknamed Sissy though it is a fine name otherwise. Emanuel is a beautiful name.

I like the meaning of Ernest and also The Importance is my favourite play. I would think this would be a connection for many people, and the child would go through life having Wilde quoted at him. There are certainly worse things, but I imagine you could get tired of that.

I like Emmeline. It could be a celebration of 100 years of votes for women, for a child conceived and/or born in 2018.

I think Cordelia's story was very sad and not sure about Tabitha and its possible nicknames. Tabby?

Cecilia or Cecily might be an alternative, pretty and unusual? (perhaps not if you plan to name a sibling Ernest or Gwendolyn)

Congratulations on the pregnancy and wishing you well.

midsomermurderess · 22/08/2018 19:44

Emmeline and Emanuel, nn Manu. But really, are you aspiring to be accepted into the Belgium aristocracy?

Ihavenoideaatall · 22/08/2018 19:50

First glance I thought the name Ty didn't really go with the rest Blush

I love Tabitha and best of the boys is Ernest .

Westworldmaeve · 22/08/2018 20:00

Since Wilhelmina was queen of the Netherlands and Leopold was king of Belgium, I suggest to go with another European royal name.

Philippe
Astrid
Albert
Laurant
Eleonore
Beatrice
Maxima
Alexia
Amalia
Letizia
Sofia
Elizabeth
William
George
Charles
Marghrete
Felix
Nicolai
Isabella
Marius
Ingrid
Bernhard

Cordelia.
All the boys names are terrible imo. You could have Montgomery or Winston but I would rather have John than anything on your list. Poor boy!!!
