Boy name deadlock

Hippocraticoats · 16/08/2018 14:39

I'm starting to think this baby boy will never have a name - he is more than a week old already! I would welcome the thoughts of the panel (and will be easily identifiable - hello if you know me! - but never mind).

Heritage (in decreasing order) English/Welsh/Australian/German.

Big sisters are Tilly and Harriet. Surname ends in "oh" sound so Hugo/Milo/Arlo etc don't sound good. Nicknames will be almost inevitable! Middle names could be any of the below or something else.

Options:
Alfred (Fred) - close family member has dog called Alfie
Angus (Gus) - OK if not at all Scottish? Might be my favourite.
Arthur (Artie) - a bit popular at the moment?
Barnaby (Barney)
Benjamin - but not keen on Ben/Benjy so probably out
Hugh - shares initial with sister - I guess not a disaster
Idris - nickname?
Jasper - nickname?
Max
Rory

Thank you....

If Angus is your favourite, go for it! I can't imagine Scotland minding.

BikeRunSki · 16/08/2018 14:58

I like Angus best. I know 2, neither are remotely Scottish.

userabcname · 16/08/2018 15:01

I also know 2 boys called Angus who are not Scottish so I think it's fine! I also like Max and Barnaby from your list.

Mossend · 16/08/2018 15:02

If Angus is your favourite use it, I can't see anyone in Scotland being remotely offended. In fact I'm Scottish and it wouldn't cross my mind that someone not in Scotland couldn't use it

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 16/08/2018 15:04

If you choose a first name with a vowel, make sure the initials don't spell anything unfortunate :)

Round here people refer to wasps as 'jaspers', not too sure if it happens anywhere else except my region

Have you considered Edward?

From your list my top 3 are Rory, Max (just Max not a longer version) & Hugh or Benjamin. Then Barnaby.

SoyDora · 16/08/2018 15:06

I know a non Scottish Angus who is 1. Great name!

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 16/08/2018 15:10

My vote goes to Barnaby/Barney - love it!

I like Gus & Artie too but agree that Arthur having a big popularity surge in last could of years

All nice names except Jasper

Jillyjollyjandy · 16/08/2018 16:58

Angus is great.

thenightsky · 16/08/2018 16:59

I clicked on thread to say Deadlock would be a terrible name...

Grin
WildCherryBlossom · 16/08/2018 17:03

I really love Angus! And Gus is such s great nickname. Also like Hugh, Max and Jasper.

SleepWarrior · 16/08/2018 17:07

My favourites are Alfred, Rory and Angus in no particular order. Rory goes best with your girls names I think.

stripeytshirt77 · 16/08/2018 17:08

I thought deadlock was in the running Blush

PixelAteMe · 16/08/2018 17:09

Angus! Great name!

NoCureForLove · 16/08/2018 17:10

If you like Angus nn Gus then what about Agustus or August nn Gus. After all is his birth month! I have one of those. It's a great name.

NoCureForLove · 16/08/2018 17:12

Sorry. AUGUSTUS. Not Agustus

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/08/2018 17:30

Jasper nn Jazz

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/08/2018 17:39

Barney is my favourite. I'm not keen on Jasper and Idris doesn't really seem to "go". The rest are all nice and would go fine. Benedict instead of Benjamin?

I prefer Fergus to Angus though.

Cherubfish · 16/08/2018 17:40

I like Jasper best.

Bamaluz · 16/08/2018 17:50

I like Idris, although it seems that nobody else does! I don't think it needs a nickname.

I also like Rory.

Most of the others seem to be just everywhere now.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/08/2018 18:04

Max.

TheVanguardSix · 16/08/2018 18:07

Barney!
Tilly, Harriet, and Barney. Smile

DollyDayScream · 16/08/2018 18:08

I really like Arthur.

Thesearmsofmine · 16/08/2018 18:10

I have a Barnaby/Barney it has definitely increased in popularity over the last year or so.

I think Arthur sounds nicest with siblings names.

ReginaPhalange89 · 16/08/2018 18:44

Tilly, Harriet & Angus sounds amazing to me. Go with Angus if it's your favourite !

moredoll · 16/08/2018 19:00
