Am I absolutely crazy for liking these names?

So we're still TTC baby no.2. But just cause I'm a bit of a nutcase I'm always on the lookout for potential future baby names, and actually keep a little list of names I hear that i like in my phone 🙈

Current favourite baby name ever is Norah. And if we are lucky enough to get a second DD any time soon I would love to use it! My partner hates it and thinks I'm nuts. A. For even thinking about baby names at this point and B. Because he just generally thinks it's an awful name.

One name we both agree on is Bonita (Bonnie as a nickname) but I just know it's one of those names that will be like marmite. What do you guys think? Should I just scratch them off the list?

Anyone else have a slight obsession with baby names despite not actually being pregnant? Or am I just a little bit loopy, lol.

Love Bonnie and Norah.

Not Bonita though.

Petalflowers · 13/08/2018 23:47

Norah is unusual but I kinda like it.. prefer it to Bonita.

cantfindamoniker · 13/08/2018 23:48

I love names too! Norah is very uncommon and reasonably traditional.so may attain MN approval all round...I like Bonnie..but I'm not at all keen on Bonita. Sorry. Do you like Berenice?

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 13/08/2018 23:49

I like Norah but don’t like Bonita at all. It just means pretty where I’m from, like Linda I suppose - but never heard it used as a first name. I like Bonnie though.

DannyDogg · 13/08/2018 23:50

Love Norah but Bonita makes me think of the Madonna song, not good.

Goostacean · 13/08/2018 23:51

Don’t like either name, I’m afraid, but if you love it- use it! I’m definitely with you on the baby name obsession though, and we won’t even think about TTC #2 til at least summer 2019. DS was given a family name so didn’t really have a choice- am very excited about the freedom with name number 2! 😂

WickerHippo · 13/08/2018 23:51

I love baby names too! And I really like Norah and Bonnie but not Bonita. I was expecting something a bit more obscure though, when I was pregnant with last DS I wanted Mowgli!

SisterNotCisTerf · 13/08/2018 23:51

Norah is lovely.

Bonita is not. Nor is Berenice.

StacksOfBoxes · 13/08/2018 23:52

I like Norah.

crenellations · 13/08/2018 23:53

Norah is great
Bonito is a type of fish and Bonita reminds me of that Easter bonnet thread...

sycamore54321 · 13/08/2018 23:58

I am singing the "La Isla Bonita" song, by Madonna, in my head.

Norah is alright, I prefer it just Nora though. The H doesn't add much!

They are two such utterly different styles of names in my opinion. It seems really strange to love them both!

MissDollyMix · 14/08/2018 00:06

I know two little Norah’s - both in the same class at school (so goes to prove my theory that there’s no point in picking unusual name just to make a child unique!) One is lovely, one less so, however the lovely one sticks in my head when I think of the name so I like it a lot. I don’t like Bonita. I’m another one singing Madonna Grin

Momma22 · 14/08/2018 00:19

Thanks ladies, I'll keep Norah and Bonnie on my list! I see your point about the Madonna song and it has put me off slightly. I do love a unique name, but in reality I'm not sure I would actually have the guts to use something as obscure, in a hypothetical situation it's a bit different isn't it? Looking forward to the day when I can actually name another DC, for now I'll keep dreaming about what I might potentially call my second.

Nice to know I'm not alone in my baby name obsession, I could talk baby names for hours! Pregnant or not.

Bonita isn't obscure, large chunks of the world have Spanish as a language but they don't use it as a first name much.

GreenTulips · 14/08/2018 00:25

Have you thought on Annora Ellenora Leonora - as a longe name? Nora is a bit old!

I also heard a child called Nelsa which I love.

Bonnie is fine on its own

Rumboogie · 14/08/2018 00:29

Like Crenellations, Bonita instantly makes me think of the fish, bonito.

Norah lovely though.

kaylanelson · 14/08/2018 00:34

I love Bonita as it means pretty in Spanish 💖 Bonnie and Norah are very cute ! 😩😩

NonaGrey · 14/08/2018 00:41

I don’t think either of these names are obscure tbh, I know more than one of each.

Surely if your DP hates Norah it can’t stay on your list though?

DPotter · 14/08/2018 00:55

I'm showing my age .....Nora Batty from 'Last of the Summer wine'.

It's a no from me for Norah but I do like Bonita / Bonnie

MayDayFightsBack · 14/08/2018 01:21

The nit nurse was always called Nitty Nora at my school so there's no way I'd call a child Nora. Eleanora and Leonora are beautiful though.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/08/2018 04:15

Nitty Nora the head ExplorerGrin
I really don't like it. Plus if your dp isn't keen it wouldn't be fair to use it. You've both got to be on board.

Bonnie is okay though

AnyaMoondial · 14/08/2018 05:19

Norah is fantastic. Really like Bonnie too.

MeyMary · 14/08/2018 06:50

I really like Nora/hSmile (Prefer it without the h, tbh...)

Bonita nn Bonnie is rather awful in my option.

MeyMary · 14/08/2018 06:51

Eleanora and Leonora are beautiful. I also like Annora.

deptfordgirl · 14/08/2018 07:48

Love Norah and Bonnie. Not so keen on Bonita but perhaps because I knew a mean one at school.
