After taking into account all the comments have decided to let Alexa go (and let my love for the nn Lexie go towards a cat or something XD). Now need to choose between these names so your opinions would be great

Evangeline.

Love, love, love it.

Violet is also nice, but not as beautiful.

ReginaPhalange89 · 08/08/2018 20:48

I honestly really like both. Just going by the two names as they are, I think I prefer Violet, but the fact you can have so many nn's from Evangeline is a bonus !

If I had to vote for one I'd say Violet

Greeneyedgeek83 · 08/08/2018 20:50

Evangeline. I don't like violet at all

Violetparis · 08/08/2018 20:51

Violet is much nicer. Evangeline is a bit of a mouthful.

userabcname · 08/08/2018 20:52

Violet.

cheeseoverchocolate · 08/08/2018 20:53

Violet by far

Jollyholliday · 08/08/2018 20:54

Love both and you really can't go wrong with either...but if I had to choose, it'd have to be Evangeline

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2018 20:54

Evangeline. It's beautiful.

itbemay · 08/08/2018 20:55

Evangeline , beautiful name Eva for short?

user1486076969 · 08/08/2018 20:56

To be totally honest.......neither

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 08/08/2018 20:58

Evangeline is a bit of a mouthful. Would you end up shortening it to eg, Eva, Angie.

Violet is ok. Prefer Evangeline but don't know if I'd be able to get over the fact that it's quite long.

5BlueHydrangea · 08/08/2018 21:05

Violet - but my favourite colour is purple..
Don't know if anyone has said it before but I love the line from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (original version) - "Violet, you're turning violet, Violet!!" I would however call my child that so it wouldn't put me off!

I think Evangeline is unusual but decide what you may call her for short.
Play around with options.

Call the baby one or the other for a few days and see how you feel.

Peachbubble · 08/08/2018 21:07

Violet. I do like Evangeline, but it could get shortened to Evie by some, and there are loads of Evies, Evas, Avas around at the moment.

Lucylookingforhelp · 08/08/2018 21:18

@user1486076969 haha can’t please everyone I guess

@5BlueHydrangea I love the film and you can’t help but love the character deep down so wouldn’t mind at all

I guess it would be Evie for short and the popularity isn’t a huge issue as if she is one of many in the class she’ll just have to become Evangeline. DH wants Nina as a nn from it but don’t really see how it comes about Confused

^ Evie/Eva- think I prefer Evie not sure

MrsBlondie · 08/08/2018 21:22

Evangeline.

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 21:22

Evangeline!. The Evangeline I know is called Annie for short

Quangot · 08/08/2018 21:23

Violet

AnyaMoondial · 08/08/2018 21:31

Violet.
Or Nina on its own is pretty great 🙂

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 08/08/2018 21:32

Evangeline. Annie is a nice shortening (but tbh you may not need one - it's only four syllables and plenty of names with three or four often don't get shortened - Maria, Oliver, Natalia, Victoria...)

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 08/08/2018 21:33

No, Nina is an entirely different name and really doesn't arise from Evangeline (though she could of course have it as a genuine nickname - i.e. a name without evident connection to her actual name. I once knew a Nina who was actually called something else entirely)

buttercup54321 · 08/08/2018 21:34

Violet is beautiful. Cant stand Evangeline,

LesLavandes · 08/08/2018 21:34

My daughter's middle name is Evangeline. I love it
