What do you think of...

Delphi
Mabli
Clover
Sunday
Tuesday
Ishbel
Anouk

... and what other similar names would you suggest for us? (I realise that the day names especially are pretty out there and would only be used if born on that day, and probably only as a middle name).

Don’t hold back! Grin

Mike do you really think Astrid will be mega popular? I’ve only met one and she was over 60!

Really appreciate all the feedback, good and bad. Thanks and keep it coming!

Like Anouk. Really like Mabli also Manon and Iona.

Quangot · 07/08/2018 20:31

I like Anouk and Ishbel best.

IHeartKingThistle · 07/08/2018 20:32

Delphi is a baddie in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child if you don't mind that.

I love Clover but it always gets shot down in here.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/08/2018 20:35

Thistle, I love Clover too !
I also like Delphi and love Ishbel.
How about Zelda of Zinnia ?
Or maybe Roxie or Wren ?

Youaremysunshine4eva · 07/08/2018 20:36

I love Delphi. X

PixelAteMe · 07/08/2018 20:44

How do you pronounce Mabli?

LauraPalmersBodybag · 07/08/2018 20:45

I have an Astrid and she’s the only one I know. I do see it popping up from time to time on here though and a little more in the last couple of years. Still a great name however.

Op, I think we have similar taste. I also like Eleri, Ida, Cleo, Celeste, Ingrid and Bo. Wren is gorgeous but a bit too popular for me.

poppyseed1663 · 07/08/2018 20:59

I like Delphi but think Delphine is a very beautiful name and I would use that instead.

userabcname · 07/08/2018 21:03

I know a little Astrid. Her sister is Antigone which is also pretty. Xanthe is a great name too.

sagasleathertrousers · 07/08/2018 21:05

I love Clover. Winter is my favourite name (after the heroine of my favourite book!) but DP was having none when dd was born - in December! Maybe next time. I like the day names too.

Probably a bit too mainstream but what about Lorna? I think it's a beautiful name and not commonly used anymore. I also like Hazel but seems to be getting more popular. Or Faith which sort of fits with the day names?

sagasleathertrousers · 07/08/2018 21:07

And agree that Astrid is probably more popular than you think. There are so many names that people think are unusual but then you read Mumsnet and they keep coming up so you realise they can't be that unusual at all 😊 See also Cordelia and Persephone.

Dontrocktheboat · 07/08/2018 21:11

Mabli is nice if you are Welsh. Also like Ishbel and Anouk. Don't like the rest, especially days of week as names. Clover makes me think of a cow.

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/08/2018 21:40

Love Anouk. I also really like Delphi but would put an e on the end personally

Lynne1Cat · 07/08/2018 21:41

Sorry, I dislike all of them

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/08/2018 21:43

Clover and Anouk are OK. DD2 had a friend called Anouk. She was known to us as (N)Anouk of the North.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/08/2018 21:45

Mabli is gorgeous. I love it.

Bezm · 07/08/2018 21:53

Love Delphi.
As a teacher I've heard thousands of names, common and unusual alike. Never heard a Delphi though.
Hate days of the week names, and months of the year. But I do like Winter. Have taught a girl called Wynter, she was so gutsy! Flame red curly hair, white white skin and huge green eyes. Very Celtic.

RedDwarves · 07/08/2018 22:27

I like Delphi.

Prefer Wednesday to Tuesday and Sunday. Wednesday has Wednesday Addams as a namesake, and she is awesome.

Maireadd · 07/08/2018 22:59

Wednesday is too brave even for me, Red! Grin

I like Wren, Hazel and Ingrid and quite like Zelda... bit evil sounding, though?

Mabli is pronounced MAB-lee. Mab to rhyme with cab, not babe.

MadMaryBoddington · 07/08/2018 23:00

Clover and Anouk are two of my favourite names.

PassportBridgetPants · 08/08/2018 23:33

I like all your names :) If you like Zelda, maybe Iselda? We also have Osha, Leonie, Tova, Iolana, Merryn, Sidra and Nola on the list.

SleepWarrior · 08/08/2018 23:38

Anaïs, Amabel, Evanthe

Frogscotch7 · 08/08/2018 23:40

Ingrid is a fabulous name. Ishbel is cool too.
Clover is a cow’s name and Astrid looks lovely until someone (ahem - my DH) pronounces it Assturd.

PoppyPlum · 08/08/2018 23:49

Ingrid is lovely.

What about Athena? Or Fleur?

Of your original list I like Anouk and Delphi, although prefer full name Delphine.

Blossom?
