Possible brother for Seth

Expecting baby number 2 (we don't know the sex yet). We're 100% decided on Emilia for a girl, but are struggling with a boy as we already have Seth, which has always been our number 1 boy's name.

I like Jesse, and Freddie (the latter less so as it's SO popular where I am) but I'm looking for one I'm as sure about as Emilia. The complication with Jesse is that my sister is Jessica.

I also really like Jude but a close friend of DH's has used that so it's out.

Any suggestions?

I know a Seth and a Lucas if that helps!

MikeUniformMike · 30/07/2018 12:56

I don't like Jesse or Jude.
I'd go for a classic or New Testament name. An OT name will seem like a theme.

StoatOfManyColours · 30/07/2018 12:59

I love Seth. It was our list if DD had been a boy, as was Fred. Smile

What about...
Dashiell
Heath
Rowan
Lev
Art (I suppose short for Arthur but I like it as is)

StoatOfManyColours · 30/07/2018 13:00

Forgot to say, I love Jesse too.

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/07/2018 13:07

Lucas was actually on our list last time! But we always knew it would be Seth, and I've gone off it now unfortunately.

Heath was also on our list, but I now think it's too much like Seth, also it might be mistaken for Keith Wink

Ross goes well with Seth, Just as short but with a different sound and feel.

Ellasshitholekitchenpjpiigp · 30/07/2018 13:21

Jonah

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/07/2018 13:33

Ah no I'm not a fan of Ross sorry! Jonah is quite cute but I don't want to use anything biblical as Seth is. I quite like Abel but think we'd be a strange family with Seth and Abel!

Cain and Abel were Seth's brothers in the bible... Cain murdered Abel though so perhaps not....

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/07/2018 14:02

LastNightsMakeup exactly! People will ask us where Cain is Grin

I love Teddy (a few posters have suggested Ted) but DH doesn't like it.

Glad a few people have said they also like Jesse! Do we think it's a problem that my sister is Jessica?

Do you get on well with your sister? I would be over the moon if you named your son with a name similar to mine, it would seem like you have named him after/because of her. What about
Trent
Clarke
Jacob
Ethan

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/07/2018 14:30

Tinty yes we get on well, although we're very different and she thinks I'm a bit "boring/conventional" because I'm married/have a house/have children (although she's just bought a house with a boyfriend - now who's conventional - HA!). I like her but I wouldn't go as far as to say I admire her enough to name a child after her. It just happens to be a name that I like! I think it might get a few eye rolls from her/DM, although I don't really care what they think of my name choices.

You have to follow the Cold Comfort Farm precedent and call him Reuben.

NotAgainYoda · 30/07/2018 14:37

Evan
Asa
Levi

outofnames · 30/07/2018 14:46

I have a Seth, his brothers are Noah and Eli, so we did end up going down the OT name route - not deliberately really, just because those were the names that we liked and seemed to 'sit' together well iysyim. Now expecting DS4 and am struggling for a name so will be watching this thread!

The one name we do both like is Caleb but it doesn't work with our surname unfortunately.

saganorenscarandcoat · 30/07/2018 14:48

I went with Seth and Abel! Lovely names and go so well.
