Evangeline Margot Lambert

Me and my husband have wildly different name preferences. I love Evangeline, he loves Margaret 🤢 so wondering whether Evangeline Margot sounds OK? As a baby / young child I will probably shorten her name to Eva, Evie or Evan (which I think is cute and edgy) but I love Evangeline as a beautiful adult name as its sophisticated.

Yes, it sounds ok.

AtticaRose · 30/07/2018 08:39

I personally prefer Margot Evangeline or Margaret Evangeline - but your way also sounds absolutely fine.

n0ne · 30/07/2018 08:42

I prefer Margaret to Evangeline but but it's not my baby! Margot is gorgeous.

bridgetreilly · 30/07/2018 09:19

Yes, it's lovely.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 30/07/2018 09:21

Fabulous name!

LoveInTokyo · 30/07/2018 09:27

I'm with your husband here.

Evangeline sounds a bit OTT and a bit of a mouthful, especially for a little girl, but if you call her Evie she'll be one of ten little Evies in her class. I can't honestly see Evan sticking as a nickname for a little girl.

Margaret is a fab name, and has so many great nickname options.

I'd go for Margaret Evangeline, with Margot, Maggie, Meg, Peggy or something as a nickname.

Elambert1983 · 30/07/2018 09:46

I really don't like Margaret hence the compromise to Margot. Every person we have discussed Margaret with has hated it too and said that Margaret is hideous.

My other contenders so far are Monica, Eden, Maya, Marcie but they don't seem to go with Margot or Maggie as a middle name that we'll.

You will be told on here Evie is really popular she will be one of 10 Evie’s in her class. I have a 6yr old Evie (Evelyn) we are yet to meet another and she is only Evie in her school.

LoveInTokyo · 30/07/2018 10:01

Honestly, about half the people I know who have had a daughter in the last five years have called her Evie/Eva/Evelyn. That's not an exaggeration.

Elambert1983 · 30/07/2018 10:21

I do prefer Eva or Evan to Evie I suppose. I could possibly shorten it to Angel but unsure on that. I like the full name Evangeline best obviously.

Margaret is a no go for me and I think Maggie / mags sounds like a dogs name too much. I think I can live with Margot as a middle name. I feel like me and hubby will just never agree ha ha!

Alternatively any other suggestions that are good first names that go with........... Margot Lambert

canberramum · 30/07/2018 10:48

I really like it.

supercalifragilistic2 · 30/07/2018 10:49

Not a huge fan of evangeline, but I do like Evie. Evan is nice, but I would normally associate it with a boys name.

Eden is really nice and I think that would work with Margot lambert.

Evangeline Margot lambert just doesn't seem to 'go'. It sounds like a bit of a mouth full.

LoveInTokyo · 30/07/2018 10:55

Emmeline?

Elambert1983 · 30/07/2018 11:25

Thank you all. I need to think about it more. Emmeline is bizarre cos I was named Emma after the hot chocolate song called Emmeline apparently

Josephine Margot?
(Poppy Peggy!)

Pemba · 30/07/2018 11:38

Evangeline Margot flows really well.

BertrandRussell · 30/07/2018 11:41

I think Margot Evangeline sounds better.

But Margaret is a gorgeous name. If my ds had been a girl, he would have been Margaret shortened to Meg.

blinkineckmum · 30/07/2018 18:36

Are you very religious? Evangeline is like evangelical.

Elambert1983 · 30/07/2018 18:52

Not religious in the slightest, I just liked the name

I think it’s a nice name, would work well on an adult too.

Peonyandsage · 30/07/2018 19:49

I love Evangeline!
She could be Lina if you didn’t want to go down the Evie route.

MadisonAvenue · 30/07/2018 19:51

Evangeline is lovely!

Margot sounds really harsh though.

TatianaLarina · 30/07/2018 19:56

Evangeline I always hear vagina.

Like Margot though. (I agree with you about Margaret) I’d go with Margot Eva.

Normandy144 · 30/07/2018 20:01

I have a relative who is Evangeline Margaret. She's always been Evie ever since she was little. Margaret is fine as a middle name as that is all it will ever be, so in the spirit of compromise if you get your way with Evangeline then I'd agree to Margaret for the middle name. It's never used.
