I used to love the name Maisie but when my mum was in a care home one of the carers was called Maisie and I bloody hated her, she was vile.
Luckily I found this out before Dd2 came along or she would have been a Maisie.

I do like the name but for me its personal.

Jillyjollyjandy · 27/07/2018 01:50

I find it a bit twee. Pearl is better.

It's the thing at the moment to be Something-Rae, Something-May or Something-Rose.

If you like Maisie, go with it.

Limpshade · 27/07/2018 04:01

I think Maisie AND Rose is a bit twee. Lovely for a toddler but not a grown woman. I think one or the other is lovely, but not the Teo together.

IvyFluids · 27/07/2018 04:17

Maisie is a lovely name for a little girl wearing a flowery dress or a little old lady with white hair and a cane. Can you see Maisie as a barrister, a plumber or a Captain in the army?

waterlego6064 · 27/07/2018 04:19

They are both pretty names, but I think you’d find it is a fairly common combination (common as in frequent rather than naff!)

My DD is 12 and has the middle name Rose. I can’t tell you how many of her friends also have Rose as a middle name (or May or Grace). That sort of combo was very popular back then, and I think there’s been quite a lot of it ever since.

If you’re really keen, i would maybe pick one of those and then try something a bit more unusual with it? You could look at names which are in the top 100 but not so near the top for some inspiration.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 27/07/2018 04:22

It would be a very popular choice. I imagine there would be six other Maisie Roses in her class. That’s irrelevant if you really like it.

DriftwoodFascinator · 27/07/2018 04:24

Agree the combo is a bit twee. It just sounds a bit wet.

Cosmoa · 27/07/2018 06:03

I feel like I've heard it a thousand times!

MrsBungle · 27/07/2018 06:07

Too ‘wet’ sounding. Pearl is loveky.

SavoyCabbage · 27/07/2018 06:09

I’m 45 and my cabbage patch kid was called Maisie Rose when I was a little girl. I see it as a childish name.

SoftBlocks · 27/07/2018 06:10

No.

LoveInTokyo · 27/07/2018 06:12

What everyone else said. It’s really twee!

Blankscreen · 27/07/2018 06:12

I read it initially as Marie Rose as in the sauce so for me it's a no.

Sessy19 · 27/07/2018 06:17

It’s not to my taste, but it’s a perfectly ordinary name. I don’t think of it as beautiful, but I don’t consider it childish or old lady, and it’s been popular for years now. I know about 4 Maisie’s in my age bracket (20-30s) and plenty in my neices classes, they are 2-8yos.

Apparently having a name that is popular is either ok or it’s not...I’d look for something different that your boyfriend also likes. What has he suggested?

ToesInWater · 27/07/2018 06:27

I really like the name Maisie and think it works just as well as an adult name tbh, but once you add Rose to any first name ending with y or ie to me it becomes a toddler's name. At the end of the day though if you love it don't let the opinions of randoms on the internet affect your choice 😁

bridgetreilly · 27/07/2018 07:23

I'm afraid I'm another who doesn't really like Maisy or Maisie. The thing is, you aren't naming a little girl, you're naming a person. She's going to grow up and Maisie isn't, imo, going to grow with her. As for Rose, it's perfectly fine, just a bit over-used.

What about calling her Pearl instead?

Hangingaroundtheportal · 27/07/2018 07:34

It's absolutely everywhere.

Yes Pearl is nice and much cooler.

GinIsIn · 27/07/2018 07:37

It’s awful. Not to mention it reminds me of Marie Rose, which is both a sunken ship and a sauce for prawns!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/07/2018 07:57

Prefer Daisy to Maisie.

Holidayshopping · 27/07/2018 08:02

In my dds class, there are two Maisy-Rose, one Daisy-Rose and one Maeci-Rose.

I wouldn’t!

greendale17 · 27/07/2018 08:04

I wouldn’t. Fashion is to have a double surname and just sounds chavvy

theveryhighlife · 27/07/2018 08:06

Sorry OP, I have to agree with the others. It's a bit too twee

sexnotgender · 27/07/2018 08:06

Childish and overdone.
