Too old fashioned? Too different?

Our aim so far has been to find a 'classic, elegant, timeless' name. Rosalie is a family name which we hadn't thought of, but I've loved ever since it was suggested...

It's nice but be aware that every second girl is Rosa or Rosie at the moment.

gigi556 · 26/07/2018 05:36

I LOVE it.

Friolero · 26/07/2018 05:38

I think it's an absolutely lovely name.

Poppins2016 · 26/07/2018 05:38

I did wonder re current popularity of 'Rose'... Two people I know have recently had babies and both girls have been given Rose as a middle name.

Cute name.

DollyTots · 26/07/2018 06:16

There was a Rosalie at one of the baby groups I used to go to. I really liked it but always made me think of twilight.

INeedNewShoes · 26/07/2018 06:18

I really like it. It was one of six on my shortlist of girls names.

BakedBeeeen · 26/07/2018 06:19

Rose is v popular as a middle name but not as popular as a first name.

MrsSnootyPants2018 · 26/07/2018 06:33

As a first and, it sounds a bit gypsy/traveller.

user546425732 · 26/07/2018 06:35

Gorgeous name.

lovelyjubilly · 26/07/2018 07:10

Love it!

duckyfuzzz · 26/07/2018 07:10

It's my first choice for a potential dc3.

Sarahgrace123 · 26/07/2018 07:21

I love it so much!! As a girl I had a doll I named Rosalie and I loved it to death, I always wanted to name my child that and it’s on my list! It’s such a pretty name, don’t shoot it down!

Cowardlycustard2 · 26/07/2018 07:22

Love it gorgeous name!

GMtoBe · 26/07/2018 07:28

Beautiful name, I love it and have it on my shortlist for potential dc2.

RoseAndRose · 26/07/2018 07:30

Would you be pronouncing it Roz-alie (like Rosalind) or Rose-alie

Love the first way.

Poppins2016 · 26/07/2018 07:41

@RoseAndRose

The only pronunciation I've ever heard is Rose-alie

I'm not keen on rhyming with Rosalind ('Roz').

How do others pronounce it?

Glad to see the feedback is so positive so far... I'd wondered whether it might be too 'out there'!

Love it! Unusual but not quirky and v pretty

kaytee87 · 26/07/2018 08:01

Nice, I'd pronounce the same as you. Think Rosa is a lovely nn.

IggyAce · 26/07/2018 08:04

I love it, it was on my list for DC2 but DH vetoed it.

NiceViper · 26/07/2018 08:08

I would default to Roz-alie as the 'ormal pronunciation, but the Rose variant is pretty common these days. As long as you have the patience to explain politely every time, a name with more than one pronunciation shouldn't be an issue.

AtticaRose · 26/07/2018 08:20

I taught a uni student called Rosalie (Rose-a-lee). Lovely girl - tall, beautiful and very clever! Never met another one, so that was my association. Very classy and pretty name.

bella2bella · 26/07/2018 08:32

I like it ( but would pronounce Roz-alie until corrected)

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 26/07/2018 08:34

Lovely name. I've only ever met one (a Jewish girl at uni), and it also makes me think if the Chalet School books!

butlerswharf · 26/07/2018 08:35

It makes me think of a cup of tea.
