Imminently due with baby 3, which we think is a girl (didn’t ask at scan, but I saw the lines and certainly no other bits floating around down there!). I love the name Honey, which I wasn’t brave enough to use the last 2 times but this time round I just can’t think of anything else I want to use. My OH is not keen at all, but he hasn’t put forward any suggestions. Help!

I can't put you off..I like it Smile

MrsEricBana · 24/07/2018 23:04

Very pretty name for a little girl. Not sure if I'd like to be called Honey (Hun) as an adult.

PanannyPanoo · 24/07/2018 23:05

If OH doesn't like it I think you need to find something you both like for the first name. Why not use it as a second name and it can be her pet name. What are her sisters called? We may be able to suggest something with a similar feel.

Congratulations.

manicinsomniac · 24/07/2018 23:07

I don't know how much use I'll be because I actually really like it.

BUT - I would hate to be called it. I would feel like everybody thought that I was conceited - that I somehow thought I was sweet and popular. Which is crazy because nobody gives themselves a name. But for that reason I've always been glad that I don't have an attribute/positive word name.

DrWhy · 24/07/2018 23:07

It was the name of our pet dog when I was a child if that helps put you off...? 😂

AudreyBillingham · 24/07/2018 23:08

My first pet - a hamster - was called Honey (and it is therefore the first half of my official "pornstar name"..)

LiberteEgaliteChardonnay · 24/07/2018 23:09

It sounds like a stripper's name to me.

Itchytights · 24/07/2018 23:11

Honey G??

X factor...

No one remembers her probably....

merlotmummy14 · 24/07/2018 23:13

Look up how I met your mother tv scene "aw honey"

Cyberworrier · 24/07/2018 23:13

What if she’s shy/serious/not a girly girl and resents having such a sweet name? I call my dog honey sometimes and like it as a word but would worry about lumbering a child with it.. how about calling her Honor, with nickname honey?

Takfujimoto · 24/07/2018 23:13

We had a pet rabbit called Honey, vicious little fucker it was.

No one like Honey the Bunny.

I had a hamster called honey once, too.

Pleasedontdrawonyoursister · 24/07/2018 23:15

Other 2 are Esme and Marnie, I picked both of those as hubby didn’t really suggest anything else or discuss it at all (hence why I’m not too bothered he doesn’t like it Grin). I like pretty girly names but a lot on my list sound too similar to my existing DDs.

I did wonder if it was a bit stripper... but I still love it!

My then 7 year old named her cat Honey

Chelseajunior · 24/07/2018 23:18

I like it too Smile

Verbena87 · 24/07/2018 23:18

It sounds like a nickname. There are lots of names meaning honey here

LiberteEgaliteChardonnay · 24/07/2018 23:18

I much prefer Esme or Marnie. Especially Marnie.

Cyberworrier · 24/07/2018 23:18

Esme and Marmie are great names! I think Honor goes well with them actually, all quite 50s/60s ish

Cyberworrier · 24/07/2018 23:19

Marnie sorry

HeartStrings · 24/07/2018 23:19

Sorry OP I'm not going to put you off. I'm gonna day go for it. Such a lovely name

Momma22 · 24/07/2018 23:20

I would have loved to use the name Honey for my little girl, it's so cute! Unfortunately our cat is called Honey so its was a definite no no for us. Lol

InionEile · 24/07/2018 23:26

Honey Boo-Boo? That should surely be enough to put you off!
Reality TV show ‘star’ Honey Boo Boo

MikeUniformMike · 24/07/2018 23:27

I think it's a bit too sweet. It's more a term of endearment than a name.

starryeyed19 · 24/07/2018 23:28

Oh, Lord, no. It's kind of a stripper name, isn't it?
