Yes it's a good solid name you might like Lorcan as well...

Chocolateyescakeyes · 20/07/2018 20:52

I know one and it’s pronounced Lach-lan and not Loch-lan, I’m in Scotland. Like it though, especially the nn.

AdelesBeard · 20/07/2018 20:54

The one I know is also pronounced Lach-lan (also Scotland).

heateallthebuns · 20/07/2018 20:55

Isn't loch - lan spelled loughlan?

Petalflowers · 20/07/2018 20:55

Love it

Mumatoo · 20/07/2018 21:00

@healalltheburns no the family name is Loughlin but as a first name it’s Lochlainn/Lochlann/Lochlan (Ireland) pronounced Lock-lan or Lock-lin or Lachlan (Scotland) pronounced with the “a”s.

ZebraKid71 · 20/07/2018 21:14

I'm not in Scotland but the one I know pronounces is lach-lan too.

I actually prefer your pronunciation but would go with a different spelling.

ZebraKid71 · 20/07/2018 21:14

To add.. I think it is a great name.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 20/07/2018 21:29

Love it!
It was very high on my list for DS1 but DH wasn't having any of it 😥
Still think it's gorgeous.
Go for it OP!!

ooobisto · 20/07/2018 23:18

Very popular in Australia, nice name!

DaniCam89 · 20/07/2018 23:42

I love it but am also Scottish and it's pronounced Lach-lin. If you wanted Loch-lin perhaps rethink the spelling?

Deadringer · 20/07/2018 23:48

Very popular at the moment where I live in Ireland, I know lots of boys with this name. I like it.

Lookingforspace · 20/07/2018 23:51

I know a 10yr old Lachlan but he pronounces it Lachlan with 2 a sounds. My Scottish DH would also say it with an ‘a’ sound though instead of lochlan. Are they not two different names? I would assume if you spelt it Lachlan then it would be the Scottish pronouncuation (a) If you want Lochlan then surely spell it that way.

I think it's a lovely name but I don't like the nick name - reminds me of that bloke off of TOWIE!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 21/07/2018 08:25

Reminds me of lactate.

falaffels · 21/07/2018 08:30

I love it, either pronunciation. I imagine Lachlans being blurry strong characters, it also kind.

Cousinit · 21/07/2018 08:32

I like it. Down under it's generally pronounced loch-lan (like lochie the purple wiggle Smile)

Sessy19 · 21/07/2018 09:17

Love it. I would pronounce ALL the various spellings as Lock-Lun, I’ve never heard it pronounced Latch-LAN!?

You can spell the name as you wish and pronounce it as you wish...go for it 😉

Lookingforspace · 21/07/2018 10:00

@Sessy19, where have you got Latch-lan from?
It’s a Scottish name and my Scottish dh and everyone else Scottish is saying it’s oronounced Lach-lan. Now the op can of course pronounce it, Loch-lin if she wishes and I believe the Irish version which is sent differently is pronounced more that way but it’s good for her to know how the name she’s chosen is supposed to be pronounced.

florascotia2 · 21/07/2018 10:22

Another Scot saying it's Lachlan.

There's no 't' sound or 'ck' sound. The 'ch' in the middle is pronounced like the 'ch' in loch.

popcorneveryminute · 21/07/2018 10:29

I love this name, but another Scot saying the only pronunciation of that spelling I've ever come across is Lach-lan

BegoniasAndPetunias · 21/07/2018 10:40

Makes me think of the psychopath Lachlan in Emmerdale who has murdered half his family and several other people.

Sessy19 · 21/07/2018 12:55

If I saw a spelling with ‘ch’, I’d say it ‘tch’. I thought the phonetic writing out of the spellings was making that sound. My bad.

MuMuMuuuum · 21/07/2018 13:01

I know one. Pronounced Loch-lin. Spelt Lauchlan.
