Zadie? Too cutesy? I dislike Sadie as it has the word sad in it. Worried I might be going bonkers!

Love it!! Zadie Smith is one of my favourite authors and it’s a beautiful, underused name.

Chuckle2 · 08/07/2018 23:52

I much prefer Sadie and I don't think the 'sad' should put you off

Aliumlavender · 09/07/2018 08:30

I prefer Zadie to Sadie.

Aliumlavender · 09/07/2018 08:30

Just like I prefer Zara to Sara.

I think Z is a stronger sound than S

Picknickers · 09/07/2018 23:43

Thank you

Love Zadie 😄

Madeline18 · 10/07/2018 08:47

Love it. I'm pretty sure zadie smith was a sadie and changed it.

Lycanthropology · 10/07/2018 09:24

Don't like it, sorry.

MariaMadita · 10/07/2018 09:25

I nuch prefer Sadie. But Zadie is also nice :)

RedDwarves · 10/07/2018 10:02

Not a fan. Love Sadie though.

Picknickers · 10/07/2018 23:51

Hmmm think it's a contender.

bridgetreilly · 11/07/2018 08:42

I think Sadie is a lovely name and frankly I think it's a bit bonkers to dislike it because it has the word 'sad' in it.

Zadie is... okay? To me it looks a bit like trying too hard to be unique, tbh.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/07/2018 08:50

Love Sadie. Zadie sounds a bit odd.

DowntonCrabby · 11/07/2018 08:53

I adore Sadie but quite like Zadie and I’m usually a huge alternative spelling and unique name snob.

KiplingAngelCake · 12/07/2018 14:09

I prefer Sadie. Not keen on Zadie.

rubyred84 · 12/07/2018 14:13

Not keen, sorry. But if you love it, go for it!

daisypond · 12/07/2018 14:26

I like it. I prefer it to Sadie, which always feels incomplete and cutesy to me. Zadie is really the same name, but it feels like a "proper" name to me - there's no logic in it.

YoucancallmeVal · 12/07/2018 22:15

Big fan of Sadie. I knew one a zillion years ago who was THE prettiest girl I ever met.

TwinkleToes86 · 12/07/2018 22:23

I love it OP!

itssquidstella · 12/07/2018 22:46

I love zadie. Sadie is nice but a bit wet.

Picknickers · 12/07/2018 22:57

Thanks for the input. No offence to anyone but I never get the 'too try hard' opinion. Surely it's better to try too hard than not at all?! I probably am bonkers to not like the sad of Sadie but there it is. I just don't!

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2018 23:05

I like it. It's much nicer than Sadie.

RedDwarves · 13/07/2018 00:18

Are Zadie and Sadie pronounced differently though? I would pronounce Zadie as zay-dee, not Sadie.

Choccywoccyhooha · 13/07/2018 00:21

Love it. It's a fab name, particularly with the Zadie Smith link.

DiegoMadonna · 13/07/2018 02:32

But OP, both Sadie and Zadie have the word "die" in the name.

That's even worse than sad!
