What are your thoughts on Cornelia and Cornelius? Not for siblings obviously

Yes, pretty cool.

Prefer Cornelia. Offers the nn Nell. Think Cornelius (nn Neil?) would be a bit harder to carry off.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/07/2018 21:05

I feel I should like them but I actually don’t. I’d also worry about nn Corny even if I did like them.

MikeUniformMike · 03/07/2018 21:05

Excellent choices.

redmini4 · 03/07/2018 21:07

Really like both.

bobstersmum · 03/07/2018 21:08

I used to know a Cornelius I think it's a cool name he was like a gladiator!

kaytee87 · 03/07/2018 21:13

I don't like them, don't mind Cordelia as an alternative

TwinkleToes86 · 03/07/2018 23:14

Awful. Precocious.

Phyllispontypandy · 03/07/2018 23:31

Dislike them.

Thesearepearls · 03/07/2018 23:33

I think they're both lovely OP

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 03/07/2018 23:34

Flavia et Cornelia sub abore sedet.

(Either that will mean something to you or it won’t.)

Everdeen · 03/07/2018 23:36

Prefer Cordelia for a girl.

Picknickers · 04/07/2018 00:41

Makes me think of eyeballs

littlemisscomper · 04/07/2018 00:45

They make me think of corns, like old ladies get on their feet. Cordelia isn't quite so bad. Connor is OK.

mysteryfairy · 04/07/2018 01:15

Cornelius is used in the south west of Ireland, mostly in Cork I think, and commonly shortened to Con there.

GorgonLondon · 04/07/2018 01:16

Really dreadful. Makes me think of the sculptor Cornelia parker, and cornholio from beavis and butthead.

MariaMadita · 04/07/2018 09:35

Cornelia is gorgeous, prettier than Cordelia and Cordula imo. (I know people with both names...)

Cornelius is ok but not my cup of tea. Cornelio and Cornel are pretty cool.

Trinnidad · 07/07/2018 20:58

In picture est puella romana, nomine Cornelia!

I have a friend called Cornelia and the only shortening we call her is Corny. One of her best friends is called Aurelia - they are both German and I think classical names are still quite popular there.

Drumknott · 07/07/2018 21:00

I know a Cornelius (Irish of course) who hates his name, I wouldn't...

EmpressWeaponisedClitoris · 07/07/2018 21:03

Cornelia est puella Romana quae in Italia habitat.

SwedishEdith · 07/07/2018 21:05

Love Cornelius. He is one of Babar's old uncle's. Would definitely consider it for a boy - too late now. May have to get a pet.

Never heard of Cornelia - not sure about that.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 07/07/2018 21:09

I love Cordelia - name of my cat. Cornelius is to me a very "old" name, because of Barbar the elephant (he was the oldest and wisest).

Lobsterquadrille2 · 07/07/2018 21:11

Oh yes! Ecce Romane books. Cornelia and Flavia; Marcus and Sextus.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 07/07/2018 21:12

Lovely for kittens.

AlbertaSimmons · 07/07/2018 21:20

Cornelia yes, Cornelius no.

Ellieboolou27 · 07/07/2018 21:20

Planet of the apes! Good god no to neither Grin
