Hi all

Baby due Friday and after a few polls and help on here over the last 9 months we have managed to get our boy list down to 2 and girl list to 6. Having difficulty though with shortening girl list further so can people list these in order of preference:

Annabel
Arabella
Eliza
Elizabeth
Heidi
Romilly

Big thank you to all who respond 😀

Many thanks to all who have contributed so far, some surprises I must say. Eliza, Romilly and Elizabeth appear to be most popular (in that order) which thankfully agrees with our top 3. Thought that Romilly would be more marmite than it is. Yes it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s received far more compliments than expected, which is really pleasing. However, whilst Eliza was originally a nn for Elizabeth, it is a very established name in its own right now and I feel should be treated as a full name rather as a nn. However that is my opinion and I’m probably in the minority with that.

Interesting comments from baubletrouble43 regarding popularity of Eliza. Which region are you talking about, we are based in North East. If it is to be the next Olivia than that is a little off putting but I can see it getting popular though.
I was already worried that Arabella and Annabel are popular so it’s good to know those fears have some basis.

Since we seem to have whittled it down to a top 3 now, what are people’s preferences from:
Eliza
Romilly
Elizabeth

Elizabeth by a country mile, even if you call her Eliza day to day she has more options if you give her the full version officially.

Not keen on romilly personally.

MimiSunshine · 02/07/2018 08:27

Eliza great name for her at all ages and definitely a name in its own right.

Elizabeth is just vanilla to me, inoffensive but nothing too exciting or special.

Romilly is fine, but I would be concerned it would get pronounced Rom-leh or it at least it would near me

HeyDolly · 02/07/2018 08:37
  1. Romilly
  2. Eliza
DollyDayScream · 02/07/2018 08:42

Elizabeth

ceeveebee · 02/07/2018 08:47

Eliza (I have one - I think it’s a timeless classic name and also stronger/less girly (or maybe that’s just my dd!!)

Glaciferous · 02/07/2018 08:56

Eliza is my favourite. I also like Heidi and Elizabeth is a safe choice (but not as pretty as Eliza). Not keen on the others and particularly dislike Annabel and Romilly.

MariaMadita · 02/07/2018 10:11

Elizabeth and Eliza are lovely.
Romilly is plucky and rather cute:)

The other names are ok imo...

Arabella: I prefer Anabella. Or Amabel nn Mabel.
Heidi: duuunkle Taaaannnen, grüne Wiesen im Sonnenschein...
Annabel: nice. Annabella is nicer.

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/07/2018 10:12

I like Eliza best followed by Annabel then Heidi

Glaciferous · 02/07/2018 10:22

Romilly doesn't sound plucky and cute to me. It sounds kind of wet and drippy.

TheLastUNIC0RN · 02/07/2018 10:30

Eliza - Love this - we are choosing between Eliza and Delilah if we have a girl.
Elizabeth - lovely name
Romilly - not fussed on this

Love Annabel also

MariaMadita · 02/07/2018 10:51

Glaci

I know a really cute and plucky child named Romy (full name Romilly). Probably why I characterised the name that way... :)

TatianaLarina · 02/07/2018 10:55

Love Romilly.

Can’t stand Elizabeth and Eliza. Posters on here are very narrow and conservative and always go for the most commonly used names.

It would never occur to me to ask for name advice here.

BasicBetty · 02/07/2018 11:28

Order of preference:

Elizabeth
Heidi
Eliza
Annabel
Arabella/Romilly

Cosmoa · 02/07/2018 11:42

Romilly 😊

Cosmoa · 02/07/2018 11:45

Romilly was the name of my midwife who was there when my baby was born and helped me get my baby to latch properly. I regret not using it as a second middle name for my daughter!

MikeUniformMike · 02/07/2018 12:02

Annabel - prefer Annie or Anna
Arabella - Too long and a bit downmarket. Bella names very popular
Eliza - ok
Elizabeth - great but pick a nn.
Heidi - ok
Romilly - don't like it

starkid · 02/07/2018 14:13

Heidi
Romilly
Eliza
Elizabeth
Annabel
Arabella

Congratulations in advance on the upcoming arrival of DD :)

Baubletrouble43 · 03/07/2018 19:39

Ruthshaw I am in the far far south west so you'll probably be ok!

Baubletrouble43 · 03/07/2018 19:41

Fwiw hope this isn't outing but my name is Elizabeth and I've always loved it. Don't know anyone else who likes their own name as much as I do!
