What do we think? I think it's classic and beautiful, my friend thinks it's boring and 'old', DP likes it. We would use it regardless of what my friend thinks but wondered what the general consensus was!

Classic and beautiful.

wizzler · 20/06/2018 17:37

Love it. Timeless

LML83 · 20/06/2018 17:38

Love it! Beautiful name, and not many Maria's in my dc's friends so not too over used.

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 20/06/2018 17:39

Gorgeous and definitely a classic. Also, it travels well if that's a consideration.

IggyAce · 20/06/2018 17:41

If you love it then go for it. Its classic and elegant.

alwaysonadiet1 · 20/06/2018 17:42

Lovely, makes me think of Natalie Wood in West Side Story.

toomanyeastereggsurghh · 20/06/2018 17:43

Prefer Mia, which is often used as shortened version for Maria

OhBabyNoName · 20/06/2018 17:44

I wish I could tell you the surname and I think you'd all be saying DO IT NOW because it just sounds perfect. It's like one of those names that sounds perfect, like Issey Miyake for example.

We don't even know if it's a boy or girl yet and I have absolutely zero boy names Grin

toomany not sure about Mia. It's very pretty, but Maria just has that womanly edge to it (in my opinion)

Classic and beautiful and also completely timeless. Gorgeous.

Ophelialovescats · 20/06/2018 17:46

Great name .
Not over used do it will give your daughter a sense of individually.
So many names are overused and parents don't realise until their child starts nursery or school . Isabel is an example of this, especially when it's shortened to Izzy !

OhBabyNoName · 20/06/2018 17:47

always it reminds me of the Blondie song which I could listen to on repeat (it is actually what inspired the name for me)

ophelia this is exactly what we want. A unique name that doesn't raise eyebrows and is easy to pronounce.

its great. and now unusual. I love Maria and Mary. But Maria is classic and cool.

MelissaElderflower · 20/06/2018 17:51

Timeless and classic name.;)

Icklepup · 20/06/2018 17:51

I like it!

TheLuckDragon · 20/06/2018 17:54

My name is Maria and I hate it! Always been known by a nickname (not Mia but wish it was - nickname I use it still better than bloody Maria though). It's clunky and doesn't roll off the tongue. Don't do it!

daisypond · 20/06/2018 17:57

I like it. Traditional English pronunciation is Mar-EYE-ah, which I like better than the more Continental/Catholic Mar-EE-ah.

OhBabyNoName · 20/06/2018 17:59

Why don't you like it Luck? I'm Spanish so it maybe doesn't sound the same in an English accent? I think it's beautiful.

OP posts:
OhBabyNoName · 20/06/2018 18:00

daisy not a big fan of the Mariah pronunciation, we rather like Mar-ee-a

joeytribbiani · 20/06/2018 18:00

Def classic

Love it

My little sis - well she's 26 is called that and she loves it

Go for it

Yogagirl123 · 20/06/2018 18:01

Very nice OP I like it, timeless name.

TheLuckDragon · 20/06/2018 18:01

I don't know, I just don't like it. Part of it is that it's clunky and it always seemed like a middle aged lady's name while I was growing up. Although I did like being the only one in the whole school with that name! My dad is Italian and I still don't like it 😂

daisypond · 20/06/2018 18:02

Mar-EE-ah is nice too, especially if you're Spanish.

OhBabyNoName · 20/06/2018 18:02

luck maybe it's more popular in a different part of Europe which is why me and your dad have similar tastes Wink for what it's worth I think you have a lovely name and by the looks of things so does everyone else!
