What do you think for a boy?

It is my favourite and DP is half on board, he had wanted something to reflect Irish heritage but the baby will be a Londoner and I don't think I want a real Irish name like Oisín etc

Any views appreciated thanks.

It is my favourite boys name, a big yes from me!

JaneJeffer · 18/06/2018 16:12

Love it.

DramaAlpaca · 18/06/2018 16:12

It's not my cup of tea to be honest, but it's a good, strong name.

It's a name that has historically been very popular in Ireland, so in that way it would reflect Irish heritage.

AnaChocolatte · 18/06/2018 16:28

Yes it feels like a good compromise on an Irish name to me. I wanted something that would be quite international where as Irish DP would go quite traditionally Irish if left to his own devices. Patrick would be even better on that front but I'm not quite as keen.

I don’t mind it. The Francis I know sometimes gets nicknamed Frank which is cute.

Sophronia · 18/06/2018 17:19

It’s great!

MariaMadita · 18/06/2018 18:44

Makes me think of the Pope.

You might also like Anthony.

Jasmina456 · 18/06/2018 19:03

Don't like it particularly.

Jasmina456 · 18/06/2018 19:04

Makes me think of the awful Cousin Francis in To Kill a Mockingbird.

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/06/2018 19:05

Love it. Though shame you dont like Patrick its another lovely name. I revently met a 3 year old Patrick and he was a gorgeous little thing

TroubledLichen · 18/06/2018 19:11

I really like it

Octopeppa · 18/06/2018 19:42

Thundersky · 18/06/2018 19:47

SippingSipsmith · 18/06/2018 19:48

Love!

n0ne · 18/06/2018 19:50

Love it! My half-Irish grandad was a Francis, it was my no 1 choice if we'd had a boy

BexleyRae · 18/06/2018 19:56

Love it. But I may be biased as the feminine spelling is my middle name

dancerdancer · 18/06/2018 19:57

The only one I know is a 50 year old man. And for some reason it reminds me of the Roman Catholic religion. But I don’t dislike it.

SwedishEdith · 18/06/2018 19:59

It's lovely. Anthony is similar.

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 18/06/2018 20:07

Love it

WeShouldBeFriends · 18/06/2018 20:12

Also love it. Is one of my ds's middle names.

ragged · 18/06/2018 21:25

i'm reading Trainspotting2 at the moment so have some issues with this name. Grin

spotspot · 18/06/2018 22:08

I really like it and would have considered it if our now 2 year old had been a boy. BUT in the last two years I've met loads and loads of baby Franks, if that bothers you at all.

OublietteBravo · 18/06/2018 22:13

I really love it

(but then I’ve been addicted to the Lymond Chronicles since I was a teenager).

Lycanthropology · 19/06/2018 17:32

Love it. It's long overdue a comeback.

My grandad was Francis (Frank), DFIL is a foreign version of it, and DD has middle name Frances!

TheCraicDealer · 19/06/2018 17:35

Love it, will probably use it as a MN if we have a boy.
