Thoughts on Keturah? Do you know any? Nickname ideas?

I like it. Rahrah/Rara and Ketty/Kitty are nice nns :)

Kezia, Zipporah, Yael and Kerenza (I know, not biblical) have a similar feel imo.

Sophronia · 18/06/2018 11:22

I like it with Kitty for short.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/06/2018 11:24

I like it--what's its origin?
I'd go for Ketty rather than Kitty as a short version
(my autocorrect suggested Jetty!)

IVflytrap · 18/06/2018 12:18

I like it. It's in my family tree a few times in the early 1800s. As pps have said, the nickname could be Kitty or Ketty.

I looked up the meaning a while ago and iirc, it means "incense" and is from the bible.

Oysterbabe · 18/06/2018 12:21

It sounds like a Thundercat.
But that's probably just because I've never heard it before. If it's a known name in your culture I'm sure it's fine.

teddybaare · 18/06/2018 13:24

It might get shortened to Ket, as in ketamine but if you're not worried about that then it's nice

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/06/2018 13:27

Keziah ?

KirstenRaymonde · 18/06/2018 13:28

Ive never heard of this name, what are it’s origins?

MariaMadita · 18/06/2018 13:31

Keturah is biblical / OT.:)

A wife of Abraham (who sent away their sons), I believe...

SleepingStandingUp · 18/06/2018 14:02

Sorry but it looks like it sounds like catarrh

lynmilne65 · 18/06/2018 15:32

Awful ( sorry )

EssentialHummus · 18/06/2018 15:38

I'm not a fan, sorry.

Flamingosnbears · 18/06/2018 15:42

My nephew had one in his class about 10 years ago never come across another with my own children but it is unusual (enough for me to remember anyway)

Tonicwaterandgin · 18/06/2018 15:42

I know a teenage Keturah, she has siblings with also unusual biblical names so it doesn't stand out in the family. She gets sick of explaining / spelling as most people have never heard of it.

eurgh · 18/06/2018 16:11

Oh no, the first thing I thought was Ket, as in the common nasty drug. And the boys who walk around with hairstyles called ket wigs, sorry OP avoid avoid avoid

SleepingStandingUp · 18/06/2018 16:47

That would be an unfortunate nickname.

Jasmina456 · 18/06/2018 19:05

Ket is synonymous with Ketamine to me, so I wouldn't. Ket/Ketty would be awful nicknames!

I love Kezia though.

Jasmina456 · 18/06/2018 19:05

Keturah also sounds rather like "Caterer" to me.

Jasmina456 · 18/06/2018 19:06

So on that basis, no.

MariaMadita · 18/06/2018 19:07

It's nice if it's pronounced like Ke-too-rah. And not caterer Wink

CurlyhairedAssassin · 18/06/2018 19:13

Not a fan. It sounds like a cross between a sneeze and a cough.

Octopeppa · 18/06/2018 19:40

Not keen, sorry.

GinIsIn · 18/06/2018 19:42

It sounds like someone sneezing....

helpmum2003 · 18/06/2018 19:47

Sorry I wouldn't choose due to pronunciation /drug nickname/spelling issues :(

BarbaraOcumbungles · 18/06/2018 19:49

the nickname could be Kitty or Ketty

You cannot be serious.

People who have done ketamine are ketty.
