Honest opinions? Not Clayton! Just Clay :)

Only if your surname is Potts.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/06/2018 17:27

No sorry.

Flamingosnbears · 14/06/2018 17:28

Why not Clayton? It's more substantial if that's the name you like.

mothertobe789 · 14/06/2018 17:37

Because my surname ends with "ton" so clayton wouldnt go.

OP posts:
loobywench · 14/06/2018 17:39

I don't like it sorry

PunkrockerGirl59 · 14/06/2018 17:39

Awful.

ParellelReality · 14/06/2018 17:40

I love it and it would be one of my boy names.

MrsApplepants · 14/06/2018 17:40

Well if he grows up to be a model you could call him Modelling Clay

Blaablaablaa · 14/06/2018 17:40

It's a word not a name

daisypond · 14/06/2018 17:41

No. Feet of clay? It doesn't have a good image. There must be something earthy that is better.

MrsApplepants · 14/06/2018 17:45

I don’t like it by the way. Clay reminds me of mud and for me conjures up an image of a rather dull and slow witted, heavy little boy

MikeUniformMike · 14/06/2018 17:47

Cassius Clay. I think it's ok for that reason but isn't there a Clay Rooney?

WatcherintheRye · 14/06/2018 17:49

It wouldn't be on my list, but I think that even unusual names which make some people throw up their hands in horror, always become the only name you could ever imagine that particular child having!

Flamingosnbears · 14/06/2018 17:58

That's a fair enough reason not to use it, if that's the name you like go for it regardless of what other people think.
Others you may like are:
Clement
Cole
Cai/Kai

Fabricwitch · 14/06/2018 18:08

Love it and hope to use it some day! It's one of the only names my husband and I both like

DeathByMascara · 14/06/2018 18:09

Dreadful. Spent the whole two series of 13 Reasons Why querying the sanity of parents who decided Clay would be a good name.

StellaHeyStella · 14/06/2018 18:12

Oh dear op, Clay is a euphemism for faeces where I'm from, sorry.

Clairetree1 · 14/06/2018 18:15

Clay and Cley are old pagan names, referring to the burying of a dead sibling face down as a sacrifice to the earth, and naming subsequent babies after mud

TatianaLarina · 14/06/2018 18:17

Hell no.

It would be fine if you lived in Idaho.

zeebeedee · 14/06/2018 20:43

Have you been watching Sons of Anarchy?

DramaAlpaca · 14/06/2018 20:44

Nope. It's awful.

AllyMcBeagle · 14/06/2018 20:45

It's a bit too American for me tbh.

Unless you do live in the US, in which case go ahead.

thatsnotmynaame · 14/06/2018 20:47

13 reasons why was my first thought

AgathaF · 14/06/2018 20:51

It's a bit Rooney.

madeyemoodysmum · 14/06/2018 20:52

I do know it as a name as it is the name of a suspect in the shooting of JFK.

It's VERY unusual in UK so I think that would be thought of as weird.

However as a name I like it.
