Jagger or River - baby boy names

Which do you prefer???

I’ve fallen for two names for my baby boy...I need your help selecting one...

Jagger James Rainnie
River (middle name not selected) Rainnie

If you like one, or really don’t like one, please let me know and why....

My name starts with R and I like the idea of an RR name for my boy but I’m not keen on many boy names with R - apart from River.

Jagger is a name on my baby list for years and I recently dreamt my baby asked to be called this (but don’t let that sway your choice).

Thank you!!!

River is a bit silly but not the worst. Jagger is really horrible.

Mwnci123 · 10/06/2018 21:31

Go Balonz, obviously.

DontMentionTheWar · 13/06/2018 01:34

Jagger is just awful, reminds me of Mick Jagger and rhymes with dagger - grim and harsh-sounding. I'm not wild about hippyish names either so River's also a no. Jago is nice though.

SemperIdem · 13/06/2018 01:39

Jagger is painfully try hard. The man you’re aiming to honour is called Michael nn Mick.

I like River, but not with your surname

Belindabauer · 13/06/2018 19:52

I don't like Jagger, again Mick Jagger. River is ok but sounds a bit daft with your surname.

HJL2506 · 14/06/2018 16:33

I really like River, j think a classic middle name like James would sit much better than Raine. X

HJL2506 · 14/06/2018 16:35

Sorry just realised that was your surname. It's difficult as my surname starts with an "R" too and I'm not sure about having a child with the first name "R". But I do like River.

Carouselfish · 15/06/2018 00:04

Adore the name River, but doesn't work with surname really.

faeriequeen · 15/06/2018 00:15

He's not going to be a baby forever. He might grow up to be a barrister or a surgeon. He might be prime minister. Give him a name that works for any career or social group. Not jagger or river!

gracielacey · 15/06/2018 14:22

Both hideous.

Clearly you like "out there" names, but have a thought for the child you are imposing the on.

They're not going to be a 2 year old forever - they're going to have to go to secondary school, where kids can be cruel, and then have a career. Can you imagine a solicitor or accountant called River or Jagger? Of course not.

I know someone whose mother gave them a similarly ridiculous, try hard name. They despised it and insisted on being known by another name from the age of 6, then changed it legally the moment they turned 18.

Does anyone watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (probably not) Blush but there's a little boy on there called Jagger and it's actually quite cute although they call him Jags which isn't great so nn might be an issue.. River is a lovely name but doesn't go with Rainnie... Iago is pretty though.

Claricestarling1 · 15/06/2018 18:33

Both are just awful 🤢

WowserBowser · 15/06/2018 18:45

@WrideD Dorit's little boy! I have to say it grew on me because of that

WrideD · 15/06/2018 18:49

@WowserBowser - Yep! So funny, that's the first thing I thought of, that kid is ridiculously cute though tbf.

thethoughtfox · 15/06/2018 18:50

They are both awful and people will judge you and your children.

WowserBowser · 15/06/2018 18:51

I've noticed we said the same thing about Lockie being from Rosie as well Grin What excellent programmes we watch

Singlenotsingle · 15/06/2018 19:02

They aren't names at all really. What's wrong with George or Robert?

WrideD · 15/06/2018 19:07

Haha yeah, kinda outed ourselves there, morbid curiosity is what I'm going to attribute it to...

WowserBowser · 15/06/2018 19:32

Me too!

WowserBowser · 15/06/2018 19:33

Rosie! Towie, obvs

Singlenotsingle · 16/06/2018 10:46

Divide Bowie's son Zowie changed his name to Duncan as soon as he was old enough.

Sophronia · 16/06/2018 12:52

David Bowie’s son’s birth name was Duncan Zowie Jones, so he just reverted to his first name.
