Jagger or River - baby boy names

Which do you prefer???

I’ve fallen for two names for my baby boy...I need your help selecting one...

Jagger James Rainnie
River (middle name not selected) Rainnie

If you like one, or really don’t like one, please let me know and why....

My name starts with R and I like the idea of an RR name for my boy but I’m not keen on many boy names with R - apart from River.

Jagger is a name on my baby list for years and I recently dreamt my baby asked to be called this (but don’t let that sway your choice).

Thank you!!!

I really like river, think it's lovely and unusual

happytobemrsg · 09/06/2018 08:26

Jagger. River is terrible with your surname

Playdohnut · 09/06/2018 08:40

It's tricky to have an "-er" ending name with a surname that starts R. They tend to run into each other - you hear "Jaggeraine".

lynmilne65 · 09/06/2018 09:03

Jagger is beyond awful ☹️

WTFsMyUserName · 09/06/2018 09:27

DH and I use 'jagger' to describe behaviour that is a bit too 'rock and roll' Grin

Heismyopendoor · 09/06/2018 09:29

Don’t like Jagger at all.

River with your surname is a no go!!

RonWeasleysMum · 09/06/2018 09:58

River is gorgeous.

mbb1 · 09/06/2018 10:03

They're both shockingly bad choices.

LoveInTokyo · 09/06/2018 10:47

I don’t like either, sorry. River is probably less awful.

adoggymama · 09/06/2018 11:13

River I'd say, apparently it's quite popular at the moment for some reason. Might as well call your baby Stream.
Have you considered Ronan? Rhysand?

Jagger just makes me think of an alcoholic drug addicted rockstar persona.HmmBlush

ellalouise90 · 09/06/2018 11:51

River is a stunning name! 😍💙 if DD1 was going to be a boy her name would have been River absolutely love it!

MatildaLovesBooks · 09/06/2018 12:03

Names are subjective. Go with whatever you love.

I personally don’t like Jagger. It’s a surname: Mick Jagger. And seems silly and made up for a first name.

I like River. I used to love it and would have used it for my baby, but for me now, it’s quite wet fish (pardon the pun) and doesn’t feel like a strong name.

Rainnie is awful. Made-up and not a boys’ name.

So in summary, go with what you love. I like River but this is your baby!!

daisypond · 09/06/2018 12:12

Rainnie is the OP's surname, I've assumed.

Cariadxx · 09/06/2018 15:25

They're both awful op

ChanklyBore · 09/06/2018 15:30

I know a Jagat. Indian I think.

It sounds a lots like Jagger when said out loud. Oddly.

DashingRed · 09/06/2018 17:26

Jagger GrinConfused

If you have to use one of these, definitely go with River.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 09/06/2018 17:59

Have you considered Balonz?

Are you for real? That is awful.

daisypond · 09/06/2018 18:03

Pan Balonz is a MN joke name that someone made up.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 09/06/2018 18:09
Grin

Sometimes on here, you just don’t know!!!

tillytoodles1 · 09/06/2018 18:09

If you like river, Afon pronounced ( flat) A-von is nice. It's Welsh for River.

ScrubTheDecks · 09/06/2018 21:26

Jaga is the Indian name.
It isn’t pronounced quite like Jagger is in an English accent.

llangennith · 09/06/2018 21:34

River is ok but not with Rainnie.
Jagger is just awful for a first name. I’m sure it’s the pregnancy hormones affecting your judgment.

Patal · 10/06/2018 08:12

I like Jagger but agree now since reading this post I wouldn’t use it because of the heroin connection.

River is a lovely name but not with Rainie.
What about Rocco? Or Roman?

MarthasGinYard · 10/06/2018 09:46

Balonz

Perfect
