Jagger or River - baby boy names

Which do you prefer???

I’ve fallen for two names for my baby boy...I need your help selecting one...

Jagger James Rainnie
River (middle name not selected) Rainnie

If you like one, or really don’t like one, please let me know and why....

My name starts with R and I like the idea of an RR name for my boy but I’m not keen on many boy names with R - apart from River.

Jagger is a name on my baby list for years and I recently dreamt my baby asked to be called this (but don’t let that sway your choice).

Jagger James(JJ) it's different and he has the classic middle in case he wants to be formal...

I don't like either but Jagger is beyond ugly sorry. I can't imagine anyone wanting to be named Jagger. River isn't great either and I think would take a particular man to really pull it off but it's definitely the better of the two

Jago is a great compromise!

Although I quite like Jagger, I wouldn't call a child a name that evokes a particular celebrity. As a teen I had plans to call my firstborn son Morrissey...thank god that never came to pass...

Also James Jagger is one of Mick Jagger’s sons so to me it would seem like you’re a Jagger superfan.

Both names sound a bit needy and ‘look at me’ on your part. They are the sort of names some D rate celeb will come up with. On a more serious note your child will get bullied / have the piss taken out of them.

I like River, but with your surname, it isnt the best.

Jagger is ridiculously try hard, and I say that as a Rolling Stones fan. It's an awful name, and people will think, "Oh, those parents must think they're really cool" when they hear it.

River is less offensive, but still pretty aspirational. It'll always be River Phoenix to me.

Really dislike them both to be honest.. sorry but it's what you like that matters..

I don't often comment on names threads but I don't like either, sorry. I think you need to imagine them as a 14 year old boy getting through secondary school when you name him. I know people say, your baby, your choice but he will be his own person and may not appreciate it.

I don't think it is narrow mindedness at all. I think it is people thinking sensibly about a human being who is going to have to live with that name at school, in the workplace etc.

Oddly I know 2 jaggers in my sons year - although we live overseas so someone must like it
