Aaron?

OP posts:
DuggeeHugs · 20/01/2019 22:00

Please let it be Aaron because I've managed to shoehorn it into all the clues!

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 21/01/2019 21:00

Haha, yep @DuggeeHugs, you got it, Aaron!

The composer is Aaron Copland and rock n roller is Elvis Aaron Presley.

My next three sentences get a bit odder!

They both refer to two common ways of pronouncing Aaron.

  • Is this man an island? Like the Aran Islands, or the Isle of Arran. ("Arr-ruhn").
  • Or is his name (partly) floaty light? references the "Air-on" pronunciation. Air being floaty light... and "partly" as it's only the first syllable, so part of the name.
  • "Only he can tell you, out loud", is the clue that there's more than one way to pronounce it.

(Although I know that many MN name geeks will disagree and that the Air-on is the one and only true/historical pronunciation... but I'm not getting into that debate!) Grin

@DuggeeHugs, hope you're ok, please come back soon! Grin

DuggeeHugs · 26/01/2019 19:43

Yay! and I'm so sorry it's taken so long to get back. Illness swept the household since small children are both germ factories and an incredibly efficient distribution system all rolled into one cute package Confused

Here goes:

This unusual name of Greek origin has graced the ranks of rulers and Oscar winners. If you have a preschooler familiar with Aunties programming, then they may be quite familiar with this name

Welcome back @DuggeeHugs and my sympathies to you and your DC..... DS2 has been feverish too; we've had the joys of nursery germs coming at us all. Eurgh. Roll on summer! Grin

Will don my thinking cap... Ooh, Don?! (No, it's not Don) Grin

LadyGAgain · 27/01/2019 00:01

Welcome back! Sorry to hear about all the illnesses.... I'm currently on nit-watch (so far so clear). The joys.

I shall enjoy putting my brain to these new clues Grin

DuggeeHugs · 27/01/2019 15:42

Thanks all! Had a bit more sleep last night so feeling a bit more human now Smile

Angelina? (Jolie/Ballerina)?

DuggeeHugs · 29/01/2019 20:35

Not Angelina I'm afraid.

Yolanda?

DuggeeHugs · 01/02/2019 15:43

That's the one, @finallychangedmyusername

Yolanda of Flanders and Yolanda of Hungary were both rulers. Yolanda Toussieng won the Oscar for make up in the film Mrs Doubtfire. And Cbeebies is advertising YolanDa's Band Jam with YolanDa Brown the saxophonist

Over to you Smile

finallychangedmyusername · 01/02/2019 18:27

Nice one @DuggeeHugs!

She's regal and is linked to a Swiss girl,
although could be Australian herself. She also has links to a pyromaniac in a storm.

DuggeeHugs · 01/02/2019 19:33

Heidi?

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 01/02/2019 22:46

Almost!

DuggeeHugs · 02/02/2019 09:26

Hilda?

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 02/02/2019 14:37

Not Hilda sorry - Heidi is the Swiss girl she is linked to.

finallychangedmyusername · 02/02/2019 14:48

A nickname might denote that she is ALL WOMAN. Alternatively that she might offer a delicious cold meats and olives selection.

DuggeeHugs · 03/02/2019 16:17

Clara?

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 03/02/2019 16:29

Not Clara sorry.

finallychangedmyusername · 03/02/2019 16:36

The pyromaniac in a storm is a namesake for another related name. This same namesake has a warm greeting and sings about our younger days and rotating in the beneath.

finallychangedmyusername · 07/02/2019 18:21

The best clues are the link to Heidi and the fact that she might be Australian...

DuggeeHugs · 08/02/2019 07:46

Adelheid or Adelaide?

I'm not sure I'm on the right lines with that one but it sounds right! Smile

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 08/02/2019 20:02

Yay @DuggeeHugs, you got it, Adelaide!
Linked to Heidi (the Swiss Girl) as the name Heidi comes from Adelheid. Historically, Adelaide is a regal name and is of course, an Australian city. Adele was the pyromaniac in a storm - she "set fire, to the rain", her greeting was "Hello", singing about our younger days was "When we were young" and rotating in the beneath is "Rolling in the deep" . An 'all-woman'nickname is Lady. And a final nickname option is Delly (deli: cold meats and olives).
