I really like this name and it’s the only name that both DH and I can agree on... Is it a bit chavvy though?

Yep.

CopONNotLinkedIn · 26/05/2018 19:31

The classy thing to do would be to not answer that.

I'm going to say I think you should trust your gut.

EdWinchester · 26/05/2018 19:31

Totally.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 26/05/2018 19:32

I'm afraid so.

RoseAndRose · 26/05/2018 19:32

It's rather surnamey, and of course a motorbike.

So is it for a boy?

GreenTulips · 26/05/2018 19:32

I know a few Harleys - all lively kids and i wouldn't associate it with any class system

FissionChips · 26/05/2018 19:33

Very.

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 26/05/2018 19:33

I think if you have to ask you already know the answer, but in fairness everyone has different opinions on what's 'chavvy' or not so if you and your DH like it that's all that matters 😊

BikeRunSki · 26/05/2018 19:34

What CopON said.

Namehunting001 · 26/05/2018 19:34

Not at all! Harley Moon Kemp for eg - couldn’t get further away from chavvy!

KirstenRaymonde · 26/05/2018 19:35

Yes it is. It’s also a naughty boy name.

Ohyesiam · 26/05/2018 19:37

I’m afraid it is op.

imnottoofussed · 26/05/2018 19:38

I only know one. Boy Age 12, goes to private school. I'm not keen on the name myself but don't associate it with chavviness

sirlee66 · 26/05/2018 19:40

Unfortunately, I worked in a school and so a lot of baby names have been completely ruined for me!

I taught two Harleys. Both were boys and both were little shits highly spirited.

SodTheGreenfly · 26/05/2018 19:40

Henry has a similar ring. I prefer Henry.

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2018 19:40

I hate seeing 'chavvy' used to describe names. And 'naughty boy' names. WTF is a 'naughty boy' name anyway?

I don't like it much but it certainly isn't awful. If you & your partner like it then use it. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

MaybeBabey · 26/05/2018 19:41

Could remind some people of a biker gang but it's fine imo.

How about Harold, Harald, Harland or Henry?

MrsHappyAndMrCool · 26/05/2018 19:41

No, I don’t think it is.

MollyDaydream · 26/05/2018 19:41

It's a name that is more likely to belong to a working class boy than anyone else but is that a bad thing?

DrScully · 26/05/2018 19:42

It’s very chavvy.

As a general rule for boys names, if It doesn’t sound like it could also be a great uncles name, it’s chavvy.

For example:

Great uncle Rufus - yep. Not chavvy
Great uncle Harley - no, chavvy
Great uncle Louis - yep. Not chavvy
Great uncle Bladen-Lee - no, chavvy

Muddlingalongalone · 26/05/2018 19:43

I really like it although I thought it was a girls name. Sorry but it is def not a posh name

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 26/05/2018 19:44

Yes.

MysticFlyTrap · 26/05/2018 19:46

You can't really define chavvy by name alone though tbf. Unless he is going to be dressed head to toe in Nike and the like, why not just go for it if you like it.

Heyno · 26/05/2018 19:46

How about Hadley? I was reading an article by Hadley Freeman today and thought it seemed like a nice name.

supersop60 · 26/05/2018 19:48

My great-niece is called Harlie. She's quite a character.
