What do you all think of the name Ada? We are thinking of teaming it up with the middle name Mae so she will be Ada Mae. Any thoughts on the spelling too and whether Aida would be better? We are not sure how common a name it is at the moment .

The name isn't my taste but is very beautiful ... I would personally go for the spelling aida as I think it looks nicer and people will know that it's Aida xx
I also think Aida Rose is so beautiful! X

I would naturally spell it Ada and haven't known any other spelling. I prefer the spelling May for the mn- although I'd say May/Mae is quite overused as a mn. Live Ada though 👍

RedDwarves · 23/05/2018 21:39

Ada May.

But I think it's too rhymey. "Ay may".

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 23/05/2018 21:40

I like Ada although I prefer the spelling Aida. Not at all keen on Mae as a middle name though, sorry.

butlerswharf · 23/05/2018 21:47

Ada's lovely. But the Mae middle name spelt like that is really chavvy in my opinion.

GoJohnnyGoGoGoGo · 23/05/2018 21:48

Love it. Ada was on my list (but we had boys)

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 23/05/2018 21:49

I love Ada but hate Ada Mae/May.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 23/05/2018 21:50

Not Ada rose either. Sorry.

KirstenRaymonde · 23/05/2018 21:51

Ada is lovely. Please don’t stick Mae/May in there, it’s the most unoriginal and uninspired naming trend ever.

LooseyInTheSky · 23/05/2018 21:52

I love Ada because Ada Lovelace is a fabulous namesake. I also dislike May/Mae.

bridgetreilly · 23/05/2018 22:10

Ada is a great name and definitely the best spelling.

I don't like it with Mae as a middle name, though, sorry.

InDubiousBattle · 23/05/2018 22:13

Ada is lovely but Aida is cross stitch fabric to me!

Thiswayorthatway · 23/05/2018 22:20

Aida is a different name to Ada. Aids is pronounced Eye-ee-duh, like the Verdi opera of the same name.

sakura06 · 23/05/2018 22:21

Ada is nice 🙂

GinIsIn · 23/05/2018 22:23

Aida is pronounced I-ee-da, as in the opera, so they aren’t the same name?

GinIsIn · 23/05/2018 22:23

Oops, XP with @Thiswayorthatway

Pebblespony · 23/05/2018 22:26

I think Ada is lovely. I dislike this trend of sticking Mae or Rose onto everything.

UrsulaPandress · 23/05/2018 22:26

Ada is a beautiful name on its own.

wizzler · 23/05/2018 22:27

I think Ada is a beautiful name but not keen on Ada May.
How about Ada Claire?

Buntysoven · 23/05/2018 22:30

Ada is lovely. It is popular but I like May.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 23/05/2018 22:31

Definitely Ada as others say above. Completely different to Aida. You could do Ayda which is how Robbie Williams’ wife’s name is spelled and pronounced I believe? I think Ada May sounds nice but I wouldn’t use it personally as May is such a thoughtless ‘filler’ middle name - but that’s just me being obtuse as it does sound lovely.

FairfaxAikman · 23/05/2018 22:43

Ada was on my list for a girl. The Mae spelling is chavvy but Ada May would be lovely.

RavenWings · 23/05/2018 22:45

Ada is lovely. Mae...bland, filler name. I think you could come up with something much nicer.

Sophronia · 23/05/2018 23:38

I like Ada but not with May or Rose.

o0o0 · 23/05/2018 23:50

The opera (eye-ee -dah) is spelt Aïda though isn't it?

Mae/May is a bit naff imho

Ada or Ayda if you want it pronounced A-dah
