What do you all think of the name Ada? We are thinking of teaming it up with the middle name Mae so she will be Ada Mae. Any thoughts on the spelling too and whether Aida would be better? We are not sure how common a name it is at the moment .

Absolutely love the name Ada
Not so sure about Mae... think May is slightly better

DramaAlpaca · 23/05/2018 23:56

I like Ada, with that spelling. I'd pronounce Aida differently, like the opera.

I'm not keen on May as a middle name as it's overused. It's very refreshing & unusual used as a first name though.

I dislike the spelling Mae.

I love Ada. Don't like Mae but middle names are rarely used so I don't think it really matters much anyway!

Ada Louise?

I agree that adding Rose or Mae is so over done these days.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/05/2018 09:02

I love Ada, spelled this way. Ada May, not Mae.

what about Ada Grace? :)

Love Ada, dislike Mae.

What about Ada Brooke ?

I'm not keen on Ada, but the Lovelace connection makes it ok. Mae is truly awful and May is as pp a filler name. Ada Brooke is better but makes me think of Addenbrooke's.

AdaColeman · 26/05/2018 13:04

Ada is a gorgeous name.

It is spelt Ada, Aida is a different name I'd say.

I don't think that it goes well with May or Mae.

daisypond · 26/05/2018 13:14

Ada is fine. It's a bit bland for my taste, but perfectly OK. I do like May (never Mae), but it is overly used as a middle name. I rather like it as a first name. Aida is a completely different name and is pronounced like the opera - Eye-ee-da.

blinkineckmum · 26/05/2018 13:49

Lovely

Glumglowworm · 26/05/2018 13:54

Ada is fine, Aida is a fabric to me so I would leave it as Ada.

Mae is boringly overused, especially if you use it as Ada Mae day to day

whatever7991 · 26/05/2018 14:02

We had an Ada in our class at school. Everyone used to sing a spiteful rhyme behind her back: “Ada, Ada, everyone’s laid her”

Sorry OP!
