There must be a name I like

Seriously... there must be a name I like, right? Looking for a boys name, can’t find any that I like. How hard can it be? I would love something not too traditional and with a nice meaning - anything nature or sea inspired is a bonus but to be honest, I just want one that I love! Names that I like but can’t use for one reason or another... Felix, Jasper, Cillian, Cole. I quite like Sterling but don’t love it. Help!!!

Can’t use callan for the same reason as Cillian, sounds like our surname which is Cullen

Ha! You def can’t have jasper then! You could use Casper though

Reiltin · 20/05/2018 20:13

If you like Cillian, would there be other Irish names you like?

I like Felix and Jasper so I’m going to suggest my kid’s (non-Irish, though I’m Irish!) name, Nathaniel, non Nate 😊

Thespringsthething · 20/05/2018 20:15

Nate Cullen sounds pretty cool.

LadyPug · 20/05/2018 20:15

My friend just had a Casper (although with a K!) which is such a shame as I love it!

I quite like Nate but not Nathanial (I work with one) sorry, how fussy am I?!

I think I would like Irish names but that’s the other thing, with a non Irish background is it strange and disrespectful to take names from a culture you have no link to?

You can use the same as your friend! It’s totally ok to do that. Just mention it to her first - say you are having a hard time picking names and Casper is one of the few you really really like. Would she mind if it went on your shortlist? If you write off names of all your friends kids you’d have none left to pick from!

mysteryfairy · 20/05/2018 20:22

I love Oisin and it would go well with Cullen.

NapQueen · 20/05/2018 20:23

Leo.
Owen.
Travis.
Lawrence.
Hector.
Peter.

applesandpears56 · 20/05/2018 20:23

Arlen
Arlo

Komorebi · 20/05/2018 20:23

Would you consider making it his middle name? I don't see why your friend would mind that

LadyPug · 20/05/2018 20:24

Haha I think that’s the problem apples, I’m avoiding names friends have used (not that I love many as I’m so picky!)

Have you had the baby yet? We always waited to see what they looked like before choosing a name.

LadyPug · 20/05/2018 20:29

Ooh I really like Aubrey but I know three girls who have been named this! I know it’s a boys name but it feels like girls are taking over. I liked Eden too but worry that’s the same!
