We're only TTC (baby 2) but we always talk about names early as we tend to disagree on everything 🙈

DH came home today and said he might like the name Adam... It's a nice classic name, that hasn't had it's big come back yet (I don't think?) and he thinks goes with our DD, Erin.

My favourite name is George. I wanted that if Erin had been a boy. But I know it's very popular.

We discussed Toby once upon a time. But I don't like Tobias.

What are your thoughts on Adam? TIA x

Adam is great! A handsome classic that is underused at the moment.

clarrylove · 19/05/2018 08:10

My 12yr old is Adam and I still love it! Means first born. Recognised around the world - a nice Egyptian man let Adam ride his camel as they shared a name! Everyone can spell it. No obvious shortening. And not too popular at the moment. He was the only one in his 210 place Primary and only one of 2 in his year in secondary!

Mol1628 · 19/05/2018 08:11

I really like it. Nice strong sensible name.

elQuintoConyo · 19/05/2018 08:13

Lovely. Can't be shortened but can be lengthened to Adamski - what's not to love? Grin

Littlepond · 19/05/2018 08:15

I love the name Adam!

BikeRunSki · 19/05/2018 08:18

Great name. It is DH’s nabe and dies seem very popular amongst men in their early 40s around here. Apart from that though, it is one of those names that everyone knows, but is never wildly popular or overused. Other than DH, I know Adams of all ages from 2, 7, 13, 20s, 30s... the eldest is in their 80s. It also crosses language and cultural boundaries easily.

catalinablue · 19/05/2018 08:40

It's not my style, but a nice name nonetheless. George is much nicer imo.

Pudding01 · 19/05/2018 09:06

Wow, didn't expect such positive responses towards it! 🙂... Maybe I will add it to the list then.

I still prefer George. But DH doesn't like it.

I always vetoed Tobias/Toby and then started warming to Toby. But don't know if that's because there were no other options! 😂

Adam George, good strong name, cool ! 😎

RavenWings · 19/05/2018 15:10

Adam is gorgeous, much nicer than George.

MrsHathaway · 19/05/2018 15:16

I have one. It's a plain name perhaps but classic and straightforward.

Minor thoughts:

When people shout it, they shout Adeeeerm or Adim (wtf) both of which are annoying.

Although it's quite popular (often top 20) we rarely if ever meet any others.

Proudmummy2MA · 19/05/2018 15:22

I love it, but I'm biased as my little boy is called Adam :-) We haven't met any others yet.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 19/05/2018 15:24

I also have a 12 year old Adam so obviously I’m biased. I was a bit meh about it when his dad suggested it when he was born but I didn’t hate it and we couldn’t agree on anything else.
Love it now really suitable him, travels the world well and it’s easy to spell mybadam will spend his whole life spelling his last name.

We do lengthen to Adamski or shorten to Ads

Sophronia · 19/05/2018 16:57

Adam is much nicer than Toby.

juneau · 19/05/2018 16:59

Adam is nice - nicer than George IMO. It's classic, easy to spell and easy to pronounce - what's not to like?

finallychangedmyusername · 19/05/2018 17:01

I am cuddling my squishy baby Adam and can agree it is a GREAT name Grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/05/2018 17:02

Adam is great. Better than George.

BubblesInMyTea · 19/05/2018 18:32

Adam is a fab name. Time less but not too popular

Glumglowworm · 19/05/2018 19:19

All the Adams I know get it shortened to Ad.

But it’s a lovely name, very classic. And there’s nothing wrong with Ad as a shortening

Topseyt · 19/05/2018 19:23

I like it. Good, strong, classic name. George is fine too. Adam George?

WhatwouldRuthdo · 19/05/2018 19:26

I really like it and much prefer it to George personally. Also goes well with Erin (lovely name) and is far less popular than George.

sirlee66 · 19/05/2018 19:29

My brother's name is Adam - he is 30 and one of the most successful people I know. Lovely man and one of life's winners. Perfect name, OP!

daisypond · 19/05/2018 19:33

I really like it. It's much nicer than George.

LittleBlip · 19/05/2018 19:34

I really don't like it, but can't quite put my finger on why. It's just the way it sounds, I think!

Wait4nothing · 19/05/2018 19:37

I prefer it to George (and Toby) but do like Adam George.
