What do you guys think of the name Finn?

How popular is it really?

Is it gaining more common?

Apparently its in top 100 for 2017 but at very end (77)

My Fynn is 14 and the only one in his school. Always has been.

redmini4 · 18/05/2018 14:43

I really like Finn as a name. I only know two and they're teenagers.

LiviaAD · 18/05/2018 15:11

I really like it too, I only two, one adult and one teenager.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 18/05/2018 15:16

There are literally millions of them. Well, maybe not literally...
It's an Irish name, I can't understand why it took off so spectacularly over here. It doesn't even sound particularly nice.

Joeybee · 18/05/2018 15:26

I like Finn as a nickname for Finnnegan or Finlay but not as a stand alone name. It just sounds like a nickname to me. Also people spell Finn in different ways, so you and the child would have to spell the name out all the time. Flynn is a good alternative to Finn.

lexiewrites · 18/05/2018 16:21

My three month old is Finley. We'll call him Finn when older. We really like the name and didn't think it was too commonly used. I don't directly know anyone else with a Finley.

DramaAtTheTurkeyCafe · 18/05/2018 16:27

I like it a lot and I wouldn't say it was too popular. I know of 3 boys with that name, aged between about 5 and 18, not all in the same town.

WheelyCote · 18/05/2018 16:33

Know a Finn..good name

MikeUniformMike · 18/05/2018 16:36

I know several. It is a naughty boy's name. Sorry.

EssentialHummus · 18/05/2018 16:39

I know one, 7 months and totally adorable! Lovely name.

insertimaginativeusername · 18/05/2018 16:46

I like it, not a naughty boys name where I am but there are a few at school either Finn, or Finley, Finlay with nn Finn. Also a Flynn at nursery.

mistermagpie · 18/05/2018 16:46

I know four young ones and one Finlay. I'm in Scotland though and there seem to be more Irish names here than in England. I don't particularly like Finn, it sounds like a nickname and reminds me of fish.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/05/2018 16:48

Nice, but a bit blah.
I prefer Flynn.

FinallyARainbow · 18/05/2018 17:36

Love it (biased 😉). Ours has always been the only one at nursery so doesn't seem too common (we're in Scotland).

FaFoutis · 18/05/2018 17:38

There are only two in the large school here. It's a great name - Adventure Time.

Boymom75 · 18/05/2018 17:42

I love the name Finn! My 3 boys all have Irish names. Ryan, Kellen, Brenden.

tenbob · 18/05/2018 17:50

My DS is Finn
We get lots of compliments on his name, and met a 14 year old Finn at a BBQ recently who told DS he is going to have all his teachers telling him he has a cool name!

ourkidmolly · 18/05/2018 17:57

There are lots of Finns here but then lots of jacks and Olivers too. All great names. I think some of them must be abbreviated versions of Finlay/Finley because it's definitely more popular than 77.

DaisyChainsForever · 18/05/2018 18:00

I don't know any. It's a lovely name. Smile

autumnkate · 18/05/2018 18:01

I have a Finbar and I love it, I always have. I prefer Finn to Finley though

thatisnotanoption · 18/05/2018 18:02

I know two Finns and a Finley. South east.

Age range from 10-16.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 18/05/2018 18:05

I love Finn but can't stand Flynn for some reason.

MikeUniformMike · 18/05/2018 18:33

I'm not keen on Flynn either and I imagine it'll get confused with Finn. Finn's cool but it's a no from me.
Finley is nice but not as cool.

sonnyboo · 18/05/2018 18:44

There are loads of Finns. If you add up all the Finns, Finleys, Finlays, Finnians etc it will be much higher up the charts.

I don't like it. It's like calling your child Dane or German, like a person from Finland, a Finn!

hildabaker · 18/05/2018 18:48

I love Finn
