What do people think? I love it. And I love very few boys names!

DH loves it too but thinks it’s a risk.
We live in London so I think most kids don’t think twice about names (I’m a teacher) as there’s so much diversity.

But I don’t want to lumber a baby with a name he’ll get teased over.

Thoughts?!

I like it, almost used it with number two.

numbmum83 · 18/05/2018 06:33

I love it but it may be one of those names you love but find it hard to use . Always seems to remind me of the lad in Free Willy. .

Canone · 18/05/2018 06:38

Love it! I don’t think it’s difficult to use — it’s in the top 100 boys’ names at the moment.

BananaBlaps · 18/05/2018 06:44

Canone thanks! That was my exact argument to DH!!

Any parents of Jesses out there in the UK? Has it been ok?

It’s honestly the only boys name I can get excited about.

My friend’s young son is Jesse and we are in the UK! It’s a great name

Joeybee · 18/05/2018 08:53

It is a very 'American' name. I think it's okay on a boy though and people would accept it. Also for sure he wouldn't have anyone else in his class with that name, which would be nice. Sometimes people may think it's a girls name if they see it written down though.

bridgetreilly · 18/05/2018 08:53

I always hear Jessie. Sorry.

Sophronia · 18/05/2018 09:30

I like it, a friend has a 2 year old Jesse.

wowfudge · 18/05/2018 09:32

It's biblical rather than American. It's one of my favourites. The only problem I can think of is if someone latches onto calling him a 'big Jesse'!

KirstenRaymonde · 18/05/2018 09:33

I like it, it’s a biblical name that oddly seems to be piled in with the made up American names. I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at it.

Loulou0 · 18/05/2018 09:35

I love it OP, it was my number one choice for both of my boys but husband hated it because he thought it sounded like a girl's name and I couldn't convince him otherwise.
It's a great name though, very cool and unusual without being too out there

madeyemoodysmum · 18/05/2018 09:37

Cute. Like it

Lexie82 · 18/05/2018 10:30

My 2 year old nephew is a Jesse.
To start with I did think it was girls name as only Jesse I knew was a Jessie...but then also Jesse James....

It suits him and its a good name! x

If you like it, use it!

WildCherryBlossom · 18/05/2018 10:31

My son had a friend called Jesse at nursery. Nobody batted an eyelid. He was a cool little boy! If you think about it nobody is calling their daughters Jessica or Jessie at the moment so there shouldn't be any confusion there. Of all the hundreds of children I have met in the last decade I don't remember a single Jessica.

starkid · 18/05/2018 10:40

I think of the song 'Jessie's girl', which isn't a bad thing, it's a great song!

Crispbutty · 18/05/2018 10:41

Ive always liked it.

BananaBlaps · 18/05/2018 12:25

Thanks. Nice to get mainly positive comments. It’s only the big Jesse thing that worries me.

Good point that Jessica for a girl isn’t popular right now.

Love it.

Justaboy · 18/05/2018 12:33

Nice- like it:)

BertieBotts · 18/05/2018 12:35

I love it. I considered it for DS1 and actually it would have suited him much better than his actual name! I don't think "big jessie" is really that commonly used as an insult any more.

Canone · 18/05/2018 13:45

Jessica is in the girls top 10! But I still think Jesse is great. Nothing wrong with boys and girls sharing a name/nickname.

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/05/2018 13:48

It's nice. I know a 2 year old Jesse and within our circle nobody has thought twice about his name being different. It seems a bit American but it works.

LadyDuplo · 18/05/2018 13:52

Hate it. Sorry to be blunt.

But, that's just one random strangers opinion. If you like it go for it.

BananaBlaps · 18/05/2018 14:29

😂 Jessica is in the top 10! Who knew!!

Well reactions mainly positive here so that’s good to know.

I think the big Jessie thing is outdated now anyway.

I don’t know what I’m having yet but of course can’t stop thinking of names.

I also like Ben but DH thinks it’s meh. He likes Edward which I think is nice enough but also meh.

Middle name likely to be Eric.
