I'm expecting boy/girl twins and these are our current favourites. What do you think of them? Any other suggestions are gladly welcomed Smile

Could there BE a more mimsy name than Lysander?

I would think you pretentious tbh, and that you got Hermia wrong.

1WayOrAnother · 28/04/2018 17:52

No.

joystir59 · 28/04/2018 17:53

How about Pinky for the girl twin and Perky for the boy twin if you want a matching pair? Or Julia and Julian? Simon and Simone, Bryan and Bryony?

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 28/04/2018 17:53

I like them. Instantly made me think, 'Shakespeare' when I read them. Nice pairing.

rebeccabecca · 28/04/2018 17:54

Together it sounds as though you're trying a bit too hard. I do like Hermione though.

joystir59 · 28/04/2018 17:55

I can't imagine the type of person who would seriously consider calling their twins Hermione and Lysander. This must be a wind up right?

Baubletrouble43 · 28/04/2018 17:55

Lysander is great. I also agree Hermione though lovely is very harry potter. There are lots of lovely shakesperan names. Portia ? Phoebe? Rosalind?

Baubletrouble43 · 28/04/2018 17:56

Sandy would be a great shortening for lysander x

MarshaBradyo · 28/04/2018 17:56

I like them

TheVanguardSix · 28/04/2018 17:57

No and no.

Genevievevavance · 28/04/2018 17:57

I love hermione but unfortunately I think people immediately associate it with Harry Potter. I think Thalia is a lovely name and Lysander is very unique, I'm a fan

Baubletrouble43 · 28/04/2018 17:58

I'm liking Rosalind and lysander. I think they go together and shorten to Rosie and sandy.

haverhill · 28/04/2018 18:00

I would think Midsummer Night’s Dream, but wrong.

Leander is ok but with Hermione will make people think you got confused with Hero. Or that you are posh rowers.

Not Beatrice and Benedict...

They’re very pretentious.

Also, Sasha from Lysander is a bit contrived.

formerbabe · 28/04/2018 21:04

If you do call your DC those names, be prepared for a mumsnetter to write a scathing post about you when they hear you calling after your children in Waitrose Wink

Smoliver · 28/04/2018 21:06

Well I like them. Hermione is one of favourite names and Lysander is very cool in my opinion. If you like them, then go for them.

Also, what's this bad connotation with Hermione being "too Harry Potter?" Notice no one says this about the name Harry! Plus, Hermione is a great character and a great role model for any young girl.

Lweji · 28/04/2018 21:08

Maybe because Harry was already popular before Potter? Who knows?

ThereAreTooMany · 28/04/2018 21:09

I like them.

I LOVE Leander and also Leollan too.

FowlisWester · 28/04/2018 21:09

I'm puzzled as to how you get Sasha from Lysander to be honest. Is that like calling your child William but wanting the nickname to be George?

TatianaLarina · 28/04/2018 21:12

Same principle as Sasha from Alexander.

Sander and Xander are almost the same.

dayinlifeof · 28/04/2018 21:12

I love the combination.

juneybean · 28/04/2018 21:12

Isn't Sasha a NN for Alexander? Same sort of sounds?

userabcname · 28/04/2018 21:19

I love the name Hermione, it's one of my favourites. If not, how about Penelope, Persephone, Ariadne?
