I'm expecting boy/girl twins and these are our current favourites. What do you think of them? Any other suggestions are gladly welcomed Smile

Viola and Sebastian are good if you want Shakespeare twins. Although can you imagine when they first go to see Twelfth Night and realise where you got their names from! Probably better to avoid.

spritethecat · 28/04/2018 15:49

I love suggestions of Rosalind, Harriet, Felicity, Miranda, Alastair, Rufus, Sebastian. DH has much more flamboyant taste than me (just suggested Aloysius!) and has rejected them all. I think we might keep Lysander and rethink Hermione.

How about Leander for the boy?

KirstenRaymonde · 28/04/2018 16:23

They’re all lovely names, some people like ‘posh’ names, some like ‘chavvy’ names - it’s all just unnecessary classist judgement both ways really. Just don’t go for Lysander and Miranda! Rhyming never good.

pipilangstrumpf · 28/04/2018 16:23

Love Lysander! Hermione is less my taste but if you like it, why not?

BlancheM · 28/04/2018 16:39

I'd switch the Shakespeare for a Molière and go with Leander. Do love Lysander aswell though.

IVflytrap · 28/04/2018 16:40

@ShmooBooMoo In Silas Marner, Eppie is short for Hephzibah. I actually quite like it, it's a guilty pleasure. Smile

OP, I like Lysander. Not so keen on Hermione, I think even now you'll get a lot of Harry Potter comments with it.

I do actually like them, but I would still think okaay. Which is wrong of me.

redmini4 · 28/04/2018 17:07

I love both of them. Classical names. The Shakespeare and Harry Potter connection just makes them even more appealing. Go for it.

Crispbutty · 28/04/2018 17:08

A bit try hard unless you are actually quite posh.

TatianaLarina · 28/04/2018 17:16

So posh people can call their kids what they like, but anyone else would be try hard. Know your place eh? And stick to class boundaries.

Crispbutty · 28/04/2018 17:18

Unless you want your kids to be teased mercilessly then yes. They are very upper class names.

CactusFred · 28/04/2018 17:20

Lysander is also a Potter name:

Roaring20s · 28/04/2018 17:21

Lysander is too... no

peachypetite · 28/04/2018 17:21

Bit pretentious

Praisebe · 28/04/2018 17:22

Lysander is also a Harry potter reference its the name of one of Luna lovegoods twins

Petitepamplemousse · 28/04/2018 17:26

I think it’s a bit too much like Hermia and Lysander who are a romantic couple and therefore a weird choice for twins. It will probably only register with English graduates or Shakespeare fans though.

SinkGirl · 28/04/2018 17:42

Well I’m neither and I definitely know who Hermia and Lysander are... my DH probably wouldn’t know but I think he’s avoided Shakespeare wherever possible!

TatianaLarina · 28/04/2018 17:47

Unless you want your kids to be teased mercilessly then yes. They are very upper class names.

As I said I know a Lysander who went to a comprehensive, he was fine.

They’re not actually typical upper class names. They’re more arty cultured middle class.

joystir59 · 28/04/2018 17:48

I think they are both a bit much tbh, and together sound ridiculous.

joystir59 · 28/04/2018 17:49

I prefer David and Jessica type names
