Really would like 'Luke' as a middle name. Our surname is 2 syllables if that helps! I can't seem to find anything!

Do you prefer traditional or more modern unusual ones?

Puke

TheChiefBMS · 18/04/2018 19:19

Mark, Matthew and John.

elQuintoConyo · 18/04/2018 19:21

F.

F. Luke Smith, like F. Murray Abraham.

People are very very rarely called by their full name, so i would not worry about it 'flowing'.

Lucky
Imyourfather
Gerald
Simon
Nathanial
Dylan
Clive
Fred
Marvin

What are your likes/dislikes? Traditional, modern, classic, exotic?

TheChiefBMS · 18/04/2018 19:35

More seriously, I think a name with two or more syllables. Because Luke is quite a short name it would sound odd paired with another short name.

Ian
Jeremy
Edmund
Joshua
Anthony

Something equally as dull? George, William, James etc etc etc.

I know an Anthony Luke, and a Cameron Luke. I think a 3 syllable name does flow nicely.

butterfly990 · 18/04/2018 20:48

Keep thinking Jean Luke Picard :)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/04/2018 20:57

Alexander Luke
Arthur Luke
Ryan Luke
Jayden Luke
Francis Luke
Adam Luke

gwen25 · 18/04/2018 20:58

As Luke is quite short, I'd pick a 2 or 3 syllable first name.

Francis Luke
Alexander Luke
Samuel Luke
Robert Luke
Gabriel Luke
Martin Luke
Nathaniel Luke
Anthony Luke
Christopher Luke
Joseph Luke
Alfred Luke
Julian Luke
Frederick Luke
Brendan Luke
Albert Luke

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/04/2018 21:03

Jonathan Luke.

holygold13 · 18/04/2018 21:09

Sorry, only just caught up!
It's DH late brothers name, however boring it would be nice to incorporate it somehow Smile
I do usually like traditional names, and our DS has a classic name so I guess it can't be anything too out there.

Although I'm leaning towards Obi-Wan...

Something equally as dull?

Is that really necessary?

OP Luke is a lovely name (so nice in fact I'd probably go for it as a first name rather than a middle). I agree with a previous poster, i think for a middle name with 1 syllable, a first name with 2 or more syllables would go best.

I this Christopher Luke is lovely. Some other suggestions:
Anthony Luke
Joseph Luke
William Luke
Nicholas Luke
Michael Luke

PasstheStarmix · 18/04/2018 21:15

What a lovely name and so refreshing as opposed to the millions of babies called Alfie and Charlie etc today. Like a pp said I’d go for it as a first name and have a longer middle name Luke Alexander or similar to balance your short surname out. It’ll flow really nicely.

FawnDrench · 18/04/2018 21:15

David
Richard
Bernard
Wilfred
Connor
Sebastian
Christopher
Barnaby
Nathaniel

holygold13 · 18/04/2018 21:20

Ooh, really leaning towards Edward Luke and Benjamin Luke. I agree, it does need to be a longer first name.

I would LOVE to have Luke as a first name, I'll speak to DH and see if he's keen.

You could also use Lukeny or Lucas or another variation...personality I don’t like those as much

PasstheStarmix · 18/04/2018 21:21

personally*

PasstheStarmix · 18/04/2018 21:26

It’s nice to have a first name you can’t shorten as well. All the Luke’s I’ve ever known have been smart and good looking strong men. The name also means light giving...how lovely, congratulations on your pregnancy OP Flowers and hope you manage to decide.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 18/04/2018 21:30

I have a Luke - he’s lovely 😊I’d go for it as a first name - not remotely “dull”Hmm

holygold13 · 18/04/2018 21:32

@PasstheStarmix thank you so much! I quite like Lucas but I think I prefer Luke. My DS has a very very traditional/classic first and middle name, most people probably find them boring but I loove them Smile

Hopefully we'll agree on one soon!!
