Yeah, people who read it will not know if she’s a girl or a boy (but probably guess boy) and people who hear it will probably think you said Brenda and think, oh, that’s retro...and not in a good way.

Brenda is a terrific name though!

There’s a drama on at the moment called Come Home and one of the main characters is a nut job called Brenna. I think it’s a popular Irish name, don’t really like it though.

I know a Brenna. It’s never shortened and it suits her.

I know a couple of people named Brenna, doesn't look right spelt as you have though, looks more male that way
