Final list of three names for a boy. Help!

I posted about this a few weeks back, my choice was between Sebastian and Jasper, with my DH having rejected Gabriel. Anyway now he’s decided he likes Gabriel meaning I’m trying to choose between those three and I’m pretty split to be honest.
I got a fair few comments about the names being wet; those sort of comments not a problem, just choose your favourite (least hated) and why if you know!

Sebastian
Jasper
Gabriel.

Gabriel is lovely and Jasper is also nice. Not sure when your DS is due but maybe keep your list of three (or two if you go off one) until he arrives and then see what suits him - we did this and it worked really well, it was just obvious who he was Bear

Lovely choices. If I had 3 boys these would probably be their names. I would keep them all as options and have a look at him when he is born to see which suits him best.

I think you’re right, I didn’t name my other children until they were born so I’ll wait until I see his little face.

Gabriel I love.

Then quite a long way behind, Jasper.

I really dislike Sebastian. I find the ‘bast’ bit too harsh sounding and hate ‘Sebbie’ as a shortening.

Not Jasper for me - either a dog or cat's name to me sorry. Also if he has red hair he could come in for some teasing. I like Gabriel.

Gabriel if you must. Jasper is a wasp to me. Don't like Sebastian at all.
Michael? Another angels name but wont get shortened to Gay.

I can't stand Gabriel and don't know why. I was really shocked when it became cool and trendy a few years ago. I don't know what it is on name stats (check Dark Greener website). I knew a posh Gabe when I was a young teenager and he used to wear a suit and cowboy boots and I thought he was a bit of a wanker. Maybe that's it? It sort of reminds me of Gavin but more churchy.

Sebastian I absolutely love, one of my favourites, but I didn't choose it for mine because of how popular it is. If that doesn't bother you I'd suggest this one.

Jasper I also really like (but prefer Caspar) if you want something not used as much then I vote this one.

Sebastian is on our list so is my top choice

Gabriel would be my last choice- wouldn’t be my choice of name

I think Gabriel is one of those marmite names. It's either loved or loathed. It's never just okay.

Jasper would be my least fav, actually it's an awful name sorry!
Love Sebastian but hate Seb
Why do names have to be shortened
Gabriel reminds me of being a child and learning about the angel Gabriel (lapsed Catholic) Gabe sounds very old fashioned

Gabriel is my favourite name. I also like Sebastian though. In fact I would use both names for my own sons. Jasper however I don’t like at all sorry.

Excellent shortlist. In order for me:

  1. Jasper is top - love it and it feels fresh.
  1. Sebastian - love this, hearing it lots lately.
  1. Gabriel - a fine name, but I went to school with a very wet Gabe.

I would choose between Gabriel/Gabe and Sebastian/Seb.

Someone up thread said Gabriel is try hard but I actually think it’s the most down to earth of the three.

I dislike Jasper as I find this name a bit try hard and I dislike all shortenings.

I think they all sound a bit wet and pretentious but of the three I most like the shortened version of Seb.

There was an amazing tv series on in 2014 with a really fit guy in it and the characters name was Gabriel Vaughn... my sons middle name may be Gabriel Blush

But my first choice name was Sebastian but are friends were pregnant first and also liked it so the menfolk shook hands and agree that neither could use it!!
