I don't think I'm brave enough. But DH and I are tackling lists tonight and I thought I'd get your thoughts on my weirder choices first in case I really should drop them. They're all real, just to pre-empt questioners Grin and the others on my list are much more 'normal'...

Raglan
Morey
Aubin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Fieau · 03/04/2018 16:06

I love Aubin!

No idea how I would pronounce Morey?

user1498549192 · 03/04/2018 16:09

I love Raglan for a spaniel, but I'm not sure about a child!

Aubin could work. How is Morey pronounced? Is it Morri, or more-y? Or something else?!

ErrantBakedBean · 03/04/2018 16:09

I'd pronounce it 'more ee' with emphasis on more but interested to hear how others would say it.

Also I thought people would hate Aubin, so thank you Smile

ineedamoreadultieradult · 03/04/2018 16:14

Aubin is nice
Raglan is awful
Morey is not my taste, how about Murray instead?

user1498549192 · 03/04/2018 16:23

Morey isn't to my taste, but I've heard worse! Would you consider Torin?

RapunzelIsHere · 03/04/2018 16:24

OP, there are far nicer out-there names. Okay, they may be 'real' names as you say but it seems like you've just thrown some letters together in order to be out-there.

Raglan- wtf? Like Rylan? It sounds like another word for 'rascal'.
Morey- weird. Wouldn't it be better as Morley?
Aubin- the best of the three but still feels like some random letters grouped together.

LastNightsMakeUp · 03/04/2018 16:26

Aubin is quite nice.... is it likely baby will be fair haired?
Raglan... I would only think of Raglan sleeves, it doesn't sound particularly nice as a name.
Morey i don't like at all- sorry!

Aprilmightmemynewname · 03/04/2018 16:26

Raglan like a sleeve??

haverhill · 03/04/2018 16:27

Raglan is a sleeve.
Morey would be mispronounced his whole life.
Aubin is OK but if I’m honest it makes me think of awful and bin. I may be alone on this, however..

PaddyF0dder · 03/04/2018 16:27

A friend of mine recently used Cosmo for his boys middle name.

Wish I’d thought of it. Cosmo is an amazing name!

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 03/04/2018 16:29

Aubin is OK (though I prefer Aubrey). Raglan is a sleeve and is a bit ridiculous for a name choice imo.

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 03/04/2018 16:30

I love Torin as a PP suggested. Was on my list but I had a DD and DH vetoed it anyway!

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 03/04/2018 16:30

I like Cosmo an awful lot. It was on our list!

Aubin is the best of those OP.

RatherBeRiding · 03/04/2018 16:32

Raglan = sleeve
Morey = moray eel (I know, different spelling, but he'll be correcting people his whole life!)
Aubin = how would you pronounce it? Of the three it is better than the other two but again he'll be forever correcting spelling/pronunciation.

0to3sadonions · 03/04/2018 16:33

Raglan is a village in Monmouthshire.

Mumblebucket · 03/04/2018 16:33

I know of a little boy Called Cosmo Otis Jones. If the kid isn't a jazz singer by the time he's 7 I'll be most disappointed Grin

Lobsterquadrille2 · 03/04/2018 16:39

I like Morey. I'd pronounce it like Cory.

ErrantBakedBean · 03/04/2018 16:52

Torin always makes me think of Torrid. But otherwise I do like the Cory/Rory sound, as lobster says - that's how I'd pronounce it. Same with Aubin - 'or bin'.

OP posts:
ErrantBakedBean · 03/04/2018 16:53

Also LastNights yes baby will almost certainly be fair.

OP posts:
megletthesecond · 03/04/2018 17:03

What about Aldrin?

Traditional English name but there's also Buzz Aldrin.
I'll go in about forever on here until someone uses it Grin.

ErrantBakedBean · 03/04/2018 17:16

Ha! Yes I do like Aldrin but worry it's just too associated with Buzz... Not a bad association by any means but somewhat inescapable. Also what shortening?

OP posts:
IVflytrap · 03/04/2018 17:46

Raglan makes me think of a type of cloth, for some reason. No idea if it is.

Morey - I would wonder if this was a version of Moray and wouldn't be sure how to pronounce it (Mor-ee? Murry?)

Aubin - I like it! Makes me think of names like Auberon or Aubrey.

ChocolateCrunch · 03/04/2018 17:59

Really like Aubin, not heard it before

Dogsrbarking · 03/04/2018 18:01

Raglan is awful. He'd surely be Rag for short. How many 'on the rag' jokes would he have to listen to?
