We're set on a first name, Polly.
But which middle name goes best?

Ah, I love the name Polly.

I'm prefer Matilda from the second names. Excellent book, inspirational character, beautiful name.

FairyFantastic · 12/03/2018 16:50

Polly Elizabeth

Redpramlady · 12/03/2018 16:51

Polly Elizabeth flows and sounds beautiful would be my choice! However not may people say the names together and Matilda is a great choice too

LarkDescending · 12/03/2018 17:03

Polly Elizabeth for me - unless it led to unfortunate initials (e.g. PEE).

Lindah1 · 12/03/2018 17:04

Elizabeth definitely

HotCrossBun12 · 12/03/2018 17:09

Well, I am a Polly and my DD is Matilda, so I am quite biased Grin

SpongeCake23 · 12/03/2018 17:12

Surname Black so initials would be PED or PEM

OOps no idea why I put that above!

I mean PEB or PMB!

I think Polly Matilda flow better.

frasier · 12/03/2018 17:16

Polly Matilda rolls off the tongue more easily for me.

LarkDescending · 12/03/2018 17:16

Polly Ursula --- PUB Smile

Just kidding. Polly Elizabeth is gorgeous.

KennDodd · 12/03/2018 17:19

Is Polly going to be short for something?

If I was you I'd use the fully version and shorten it to Polly. I have a shortened name and really wish I'd been given the longer version. Sorry, off point. I think they both go really well.

thewhitechapelfatberg · 12/03/2018 17:21

I love Polly. It’s so underused compared to Holly and Molly - something I’ve never understood.
I don’t think a middle name matters either way. Hardly anyone will ever get to know it. Even close friends probably don’t know mine. So would just go with whichever you prefer.
Unless....
If there are likely to be subsequent babies I suppose you might think about holding the favourite name of Matilda or Elizabeth back to use as a first name for a future DD??
Or are both definitely middle name material?

SpongeCake23 · 12/03/2018 17:25

@thewhitechapelfatberg both are middle name material. I'm not planning on having any other children after this one. We only want one.

@KennDodd Nope, just going to be Polly. I have a longer 'Christened name' and everyone calls me by the shortened version, same as DP. So we would both rather skip that and just call her that as her main name.

Polly Mat sounds like a type of paint so I'd go for Polly Elizabeth

ChocolateCrunch · 12/03/2018 18:04

Polly Matilda gets my vote. Love the name Polly!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 12/03/2018 18:04

Definitely Polly Elizabeth Black. It flows much better. Otherwise she could be Polly Tilly. Smile

AnyaMoondial · 12/03/2018 18:20

Both sound good but Polly Matilda wins for me.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/03/2018 18:26

Polly Matida Black, flows better.

DramaAlpaca · 12/03/2018 18:27

Polly Elizabeth

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 12/03/2018 18:27

Polly Elizabeth

Sophronia · 12/03/2018 19:41

Polly Matilda. Elizabeth is a bit of a “filler” middle name.

PinkLemonade4 · 12/03/2018 21:52

Polly Elizabeth 100%

PollyBanana · 12/03/2018 22:00

Polly Banana
But I'm biased...
