We're set on a first name, Polly.
But which middle name goes best?

I love the name Elizabeth. We used it for our dd’s middle name and now we’re expecting number 2 I wish I’d saved it in case we have another dd!
Polly Elizabeth sounds lovely

Polly Mat Black really does sound like a paint colour.

Polly Matilda

The M of Matilda flows better from the Y.

Having a Y followed by an E is harder to pronounce - they sort of run into each other.

I think Polly Elizabeth flows better than Polly Matilda.

Polly Matilda. Elizabeth is a bit of a “filler” middle name.

Both sound good but Polly Matilda wins for me.

Definitely Polly Elizabeth Black. It flows much better. Otherwise she could be Polly Tilly. Smile

Polly Matilda gets my vote. Love the name Polly!

Polly Mat sounds like a type of paint so I'd go for Polly Elizabeth

@KennDodd Nope, just going to be Polly. I have a longer 'Christened name' and everyone calls me by the shortened version, same as DP. So we would both rather skip that and just call her that as her main name.

@thewhitechapelfatberg both are middle name material. I'm not planning on having any other children after this one. We only want one.

I love Polly. It’s so underused compared to Holly and Molly - something I’ve never understood.
I don’t think a middle name matters either way. Hardly anyone will ever get to know it. Even close friends probably don’t know mine. So would just go with whichever you prefer.
Unless....
If there are likely to be subsequent babies I suppose you might think about holding the favourite name of Matilda or Elizabeth back to use as a first name for a future DD??
Or are both definitely middle name material?

Is Polly going to be short for something?

If I was you I'd use the fully version and shorten it to Polly. I have a shortened name and really wish I'd been given the longer version. Sorry, off point. I think they both go really well.
