After much debate we have finally short listed names. Just looking for opinions.

Boys:
Thomas Andrew
Sebastian Andrew
Finley Andrew

Girls:
Ava Zosia
Keira Zosia
Edie Zosia
Niamh Zosia

Just wondering what you would go for or absolutely avoid? (I realise the middle name for a girl would not be everyone’s choice but we have chosen it to keep the Polish connection in the family)

I like Thomas Andrew (it reminds me of Thomas Andrews, which is a good thing but certainly a niche reference!) followed Sebastian Andrew.

And I like Ava Zosia best, followed by Keira Zosia.

Perfectly1mperfect · 06/03/2018 01:42

Sebastian and Ava are really lovely.

FairyFantastic · 06/03/2018 02:04

(Love Zosia!!)

  1. Ava Zosia

applesandpears56 · 06/03/2018 02:09

All lovely except Ava

Cavender · 06/03/2018 02:11

Can I ask how you pronounce Zosia? Is it Zosha?

octoberfarm · 06/03/2018 02:14

Thomas would be ltop for me, as well as Naimh and Keira.

Isadora2007 · 06/03/2018 02:20

I prefer Finlay with an A but the name is nicest.

Then i don’t like the “ah” ending first names with Zosia so not Keira or Ava. So Edie first choice then Niamh second.

Sophronia · 06/03/2018 02:35

Thomas and Niamh

user1498549192 · 06/03/2018 06:36

Another vote for Thomas and Niamh.

lornathewizzard · 06/03/2018 06:38

Sebastian and Edie are my faves

DuggeeHugs · 06/03/2018 06:54

I love Thomas and Edie (although I'd possibly use Meredith with Edie as the daily NN)

BelindasRedPlasticHandcuffs · 06/03/2018 07:09

Sebastian Andrew - I like the others too but I love the name Sebastian! Thomas Andrew if not, but it doesn't have the edge that Sebastian does.

Edie Zosia - I agree that a name ended in -a doesn't flow as well. Zosia is the name of the girl from the first (children's!) book I ever read by myself in Polish and I've always thought it's a great name.

Congrats!

userabcname · 06/03/2018 07:13

Sebastian and Edie get my vote

Periclymenum · 06/03/2018 07:34

I like all 3 boys' names, Finley the least and Sebastian the most.

The Irish/Polish combo with Niamh looks a little complicated but sounds nice out loud Smile Edie and Ava are used a lot and don't flow as well; I don't like Keira.

Afternoon · 06/03/2018 07:51

I don't know your surname but have you checked that the combinations don't spell a word you'd be unhappy with.... TAT, SAD, FAT, SAG, TAR?

I like Thomas and quite like Sebastian but am not so keen on Finley. I like all your girls' names, and think Niamh Zosia sounds best. Ava has been super-popular recently along with Eva, Evie, Eve. I like Edie but prefer it as a nickname for a longer name.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 06/03/2018 10:32

Ha! @superbeagle beat me to it. Thomas Andrews who built the Titanic.

I really like Thomas, Sebastian and Niamh from your list. Not mad about the others.

mischiefmanaged01 · 06/03/2018 10:39

Thanks for your opinions a good mix so we aren’t going terribly wrong whatever we end up deciding on! We were a bit unsure about all of the A endings with the girls name and the poor kid spelling out Niamh Zosia too 🙈 I guess we will continue to figure it out- we have a few weeks left yet!

@Cavender yes you are correct that is the pronunciation

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/03/2018 11:27

Thomas Andrew or Ava Zosia.
Loving Zosia, how about Zosia Eden.

mischiefmanaged01 · 06/03/2018 12:44

@belindasredplastichandcuffs that’s pretty cool about the Polish reading! It was Zosia or Joasia but I am strongly leaning towards Zosia and the husband prefers Zosia too!

@superbeagle I hadn’t even put that together! My brother is in the Navy so could be a funny thing to point out to him 😊

mischiefmanaged01 · 06/03/2018 14:59

@sugarpiehoneyeye I wish I was brave enough to go with Zosia as a first name as we have had a real time trying to come up with girls names and Zosia as the middle name was the only thing we had up until this week!! It’s just as a teacher I know how annoying it can be for students to always have to correct people on pronunciation 🙈. It’s still an option though as it quite possibly is the only name I 100% love for a girl!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/03/2018 19:30

You are brave enough, it's a beautiful name, and she'll love you for it ?
Give it some thought ! 😄

MikeUniformMike · 06/03/2018 20:36

Why would you need to be brave to use Zosia as a first name? I looked for the pronunciation on line and it was just as I thought and I don't speak Polish . The spelling is fairly straightforward. And it's a lovely name, much nicer than the ones you suggested.

I'm not keen on Finley or Sebastian at all but like Thomas a lot.

ApocalypseNowt · 06/03/2018 20:50

I like Z names! Can I ask how you pronounce Zosia? I've never heard it before.

Fwiw I like Sebastian from the boys list.

SuperBeagle · 06/03/2018 20:53

I like Zosia as a first name too. I don't think you have to be brave to use it.

Zosia is Zo (as in Zoe) Sha Apocalypse

user1459464195 · 06/03/2018 21:17

Zosia is gorgeous! I agree it goes best with Ava as a first name, but personally I'm a little bored by the current popularity of Ava. Edie is great. I love Niamh but find the Irish/Polish combo of Niamh Zosia a little odd. Can I ask why you wouldn't use a Polish middle name for a boy? All your shortlist are great but if you went for Thomas it would be fabulous with a Polish name as a middle name. Thomas Maksymilian or Thomas Konrad perhaps?
