I love it and knew a very special lady who called Dorothy.

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/02/2018 11:29

It's dd's middle name so obviously I love it

I like Dot more than Dotty personally

LexieLulu · 09/02/2018 11:30

Love it. Dot is lovely xx

ChocolateCrunch · 09/02/2018 11:33

Love Dorothy, Dotty and Dot!

VanessaBet · 09/02/2018 11:49

I know one who goes by Doll/Dolly as a nickname

Songofthesouth · 09/02/2018 12:45

I know a 1 year old Dorothy nn Dottie. At first I wasn’t sure but actually it really suits her.

Couchiecoo · 09/02/2018 13:53

I absolutely love the little name Dottie 🙊😁

HuskyMcClusky · 09/02/2018 13:58

Noooo. It’s awful. You might as well call her Gladys or Barbara.

Elocutioner · 09/02/2018 13:59

I like it, although I prefer Dorothea

SadieHufflepuff · 09/02/2018 14:35

I love Dotty! Go for it

floriad · 09/02/2018 14:44

I prefer Dorothea.

Bot Dorothy is also nice :)

Dot / Dottie are cute nicknames.

MammieBear · 09/02/2018 14:47

I like the name also the elaborate form Dorothea.

SheelaNaGiggle · 09/02/2018 15:44

I don't like it.

MadisonAvenue · 09/02/2018 15:46

I love Dotty, Dolly and Dorie but really dislike Dorothy.

PsychoPumpkin · 09/02/2018 15:47

I like it

ObiJuanKenobi · 09/02/2018 16:19

Love!!

Only1scoop · 09/02/2018 16:20

Prefer Dorothea

Love Dotty

ItsAllABitStrangeReally · 09/02/2018 16:23

Lovely.

Also like Valerie, both timeless names.

SheelaNaGiggle · 09/02/2018 16:29

Is Valerie timeless? It shouts 1950s to me.

Laqueue · 09/02/2018 16:33

I prefer Dorothea, plus it gives you Thea as an extra possible "short"

ItsAllABitStrangeReally · 09/02/2018 16:33

I think the Romans would argue with that one Sheela !!!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 09/02/2018 16:34

It's cute.

SheelaNaGiggle · 09/02/2018 16:36

I think the Romans would argue with that one Sheela !!!

I'm not saying it's not an old name but to me 'timeless' is a name that never dates. Catherine for example. Not Valerie.

Justanewname · 09/02/2018 16:56

Dorothy is a lovely name. Lots of nice nicknames. It’s not that common for new babies but is still a nice ordinary name that everyone knows how to spell.

Yogagirl123 · 09/02/2018 17:44

Not keen, I only know one Dorothy(not a child) and she uses her middle name as she doesn’t like it. I can’t see it becoming popular so that could be a possible advantage. Your choice, whatever name you choose wouldn’t be liked by everyone.
