Hello!

I'm a writer after suggestions for a name for a character, rather than a real life baby (not quite at that stage of life yet!) so I hope it's still OK to post for advice here!

I'm after a pretty girls name with three syllables and a possible NN which you wouldn't necessarily associate with the full name. It can't be immediately clear that the two characters are the same person - so nothing obvious like Susannah and Suzie.

In return, all I can promise is the satisfaction of knowing it was your idea, if ever you read the finished book!

Imogen - Mimi.
Aurora - Bo.
Sophia (pronounced eye-a not ee-a) - Io.
Matilda - Maud.

How about Tabitha and nn Kit (tabby cat, kitkat etc ...)

Minerva nn Mina

Araminta (albeit 4) nn harry

Alexandra nn sacha

ScreamingValenta · 04/02/2018 21:49

Or Tabitha and NN Cat. That would be good, as people would assume Catherine, Catriona etc.

Some really great ideas - thanks so much everyone! I love some of the suggestions so far but I shan't give away which ones in case that ruins things eventually!

Ooh, and Alexandra - Sasha

Threeandabit · 26/02/2018 19:39

I suddenly thought of Liberty last night. Libby would automatically be assumed to be short for Elizabeth, and Bert / Bertie could also be used as short forms without being obviously short for Liberty.

PhuntSox · 26/02/2018 20:01

Christina - Kit

kittensinmydinner1 · 26/02/2018 21:13

Antoinette nn Netta

Zaya71 · 26/02/2018 21:28

I think it needs to be a name where the nn starts with a different letter. I like Eleanor - Lenny and Tabitha - Kitty, as mentioned above, I wouldn't think of those of being the same name on first reading.

What about a nn relating to a characteristic/feature rather than the name, for example Ginger.

Also, not enough syllables but Esther - Tess would work well.

susurration · 26/02/2018 21:28

Margaret- Daisy (from the french Marguerite)
Cassandra- Annie?
