DP suggested this today out of the blue. What do you think? We'd probably shorten to Gerry but also Ged is a possibility.

NO

ChocolateCrunch · 03/02/2018 22:00

Don't like it, sorry

RustyBear · 03/02/2018 22:04

I’m afraid I just think of Roman Atkinson’s Father of the Bride speech.

RustyBear · 03/02/2018 22:04

*Rowan

pilates · 03/02/2018 22:04

No, sorry

BakedBeans47 · 03/02/2018 22:06

Good god, no.

Greenteandchives · 03/02/2018 22:07

What about Jerome. NN Jerry?

Baubletrouble43 · 03/02/2018 22:07

I prefer Gérard with a shortening of ged?

Asmallrole · 03/02/2018 22:07

GERALD ????? Is this a wind up

Baubletrouble43 · 03/02/2018 22:08

Not sure where the accent came from x

Bimbler · 03/02/2018 22:26

Grin Grin

Yes and then have another son called Clive.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 03/02/2018 22:27

No, sorry, but there's nothing redeeming about the name!

Maniacmum · 03/02/2018 22:35

All I think of is Ratner which isn’t good.

Sorry.

Your DH needs to start thinking again.

Harvestwidow · 03/02/2018 22:36

Made me think of Gerald from the full monty!

PeasAndHarmony · 03/02/2018 22:38

I can't imagine looking at a beautiful newborn baby and thinking 'ah, he looks like a Gerald to me'.

Saisong · 03/02/2018 22:42

I like it

sinceyouask · 03/02/2018 22:45

I don't think Gerald's coming back just yet.

user1485182339 · 03/02/2018 23:19

Since the thread is active again, I would kind of lob Gerald and Balonz in the same category.

madeyemoodysmum · 03/02/2018 23:23

How about Gabriel instead.

Kpo58 · 03/02/2018 23:47

Sure, why not? It's at least a recognised name, rather than an object, country or badly spelt to look different.

HappyLollipop · 03/02/2018 23:51

No, don't saddle your DS with a name like that and Gerry is an awful nn!

FlipflopFifi · 04/02/2018 09:02

I quite like Gerry. Gerald is no worse than Arthur, Oscar, Archie imo

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/02/2018 09:03

How about Jared/Jed.

madeyemoodysmum · 04/02/2018 09:07

Gared is a LOT better

Trailedanderror · 04/02/2018 09:09

Ged is great- if go with Jared/ Jed.
But I'd definitely check its meaning first.
