What are your opinions on the name Elaya Mae please?
(Pronounced El-ay-ah)

I love it but just interested how other people see it

Thanks! Smile

Elaya looks made up to me. Not sure if it is though! May is so much better than Mae imo.

TatianaLarina · 01/02/2018 13:08

Very chavvy made up name.

Annabelle4 · 01/02/2018 13:31

If it's pronounced El-ee-a, I think it sounds nice.
It's just the way it appears when written down that I don't like.

strugglingtodomybest · 01/02/2018 15:30

It's a Native American name apparently. I think it sounds nice OP, just not themed with Mae.

BakedBeans47 · 01/02/2018 15:34

It’s ok but a bit many vowels.

Also I remember shops called Elena Mae from when I was a kid so it reminds me a bit of that. I’m old though ;)

creamcheeseandlox · 01/02/2018 15:36

I don't like the mae part as someone else said it's so over done and common.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/02/2018 15:43

I don’t like either name. Elaya comes across as made up.

diddy92 · 01/02/2018 16:43

Thank you for your responses everyone! I had heard the name Elaya in a Youtube baby name video

I really love Elaya, but I may change Mae Smile Thanks for your feedback!! Smile

Love Elaya - could take or leave Mae (I'd spell in May as well!!)

Fekko · 01/02/2018 17:06

Just made me think of elona gay. Then I got the time in my head.

Estellanpip · 01/02/2018 17:22

People will pronounce it as either 'a liar' or 'a layer', I think.

TurquoiseDress · 01/02/2018 19:47

It sounds bit of a mouthful and too much rhyming going on.

I think you'd be forever correcting people how to spell it and maybe pronounce it too.

AdalindSchade · 01/02/2018 21:50

Too many vowels and not enough substance. Elaya is just meh. Mae is just horrible now, sorry.

Xeneth88 · 01/02/2018 21:54

Oh no. That's awful.

EfficiencyDeficiency · 01/02/2018 21:57

Sorry but the Mae is so tacky.

It's the default middle name.

Patienceisvirtuous · 01/02/2018 22:03

No, awful.

Elia is better. And Maya.

SuperBeagle · 01/02/2018 22:14

Elaya is definitely not a "real" name.

Alaïa is a real name, pronounced Ah-LIE-ah, which is similar.

Sittinonthefloor · 01/02/2018 22:53

Awful

Tringingle · 01/02/2018 23:08

There's a kid in playschool called elayna,I think it's fab Smile not the same but one more to throw into the pot

TheCraicDealer · 01/02/2018 23:22

I usually have a very low threshold for yoonique names but I think Elaya is ok. I'd never choose it myself but it's the kind of name someone would mention a few times and I'd stop thinking "made up name" quite quickly.

Please do not use Mae- that "Rose" and "Grace" are filler names. So many people eople use them because they do roll off the tongue and are pretty and inoffensive, but they're just so unoriginal. Unless you're dying about Mae I'd pick something else that you are really keen on.

rachrach2 · 01/02/2018 23:29

I like Elaya and Mae but not together with the two A sounds. She will be spelling it forever and repeating it as it's unusual but pretty.

BackforGood · 01/02/2018 23:40

I would hate to be saddled with a name that wasn't obvious how it was pronounced - so every time someone calls your name from a list, you'd be getting it said wrongly - or that wasn't obvious how to spell it, when you hear it, so every time you give someone your name, you have to spell it for them.

Joeybee · 02/02/2018 02:36

It's a bit too cutesy for me. Plus it's not obvious how you'd pronounce it. You'd have to put up with correcting peoples pronunciation and spelling for it all the time.

Sprinklestar · 02/02/2018 03:03

Makes me think of Elijah. Mae is nice.

chewiecat · 02/02/2018 03:40

Sorry don't like it
