Arabella?

I love the name Arabella, have done since I was about 15, but I’m not keen on the association with the Arctic Monkeys song. I like the band but somewhat dislike the fact that people might think i’m naming my child after a song. Thoughts? (do most people associate it with the song?)

I've no idea what song you're referring to, so I guess not everyone will associate it with the song!

ApplesTheHare · 25/01/2018 19:32

Hmm, I was an AM fan but can't even remember which song you're talking about so you're probably safe. They haven't been famous for about 10 years have they?

ChocolateCrunch · 25/01/2018 19:32

Love the name. Don't know the song, so don't associate the name with it!

Littlechocola · 25/01/2018 19:36

I wouldn’t even consider the song. It’s a beautiful name.

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 25/01/2018 19:38

Sorry, sounds like a pasta sauce to me

expatmigrant · 25/01/2018 19:49

Met a lady called Arabella a few weeks ago. Thought the name was really lovely and so was she. No knowledge of AM song.

Coconutspongexo · 25/01/2018 19:52

Arabellas got a 70s head

guiltynetter · 25/01/2018 19:58

i love the name and do associate it with arctic monkeys. my friend who is a big AM fan named her daughter arabella last year.

MikeUniformMike · 25/01/2018 20:01

It's very pretty but long. Choose a short form you like if you are going to use it. Ari/Bella/Ella perhaps.

KingPrawnOkay · 25/01/2018 20:05

I love the name but hate AM and since my partner played me that song it’s put a dampener on the name, and it’s all I think of when I hear Arabella. I reckon once you saw your daughter though all hatred for the song would go out the window and you’d only ever know Arabella as your daughter. I say go for it!

iggleypiggly · 25/01/2018 20:05

Never heard a song with the name...

MulhuddartDrive · 25/01/2018 20:29

I don't know the song either but I know a 7yo Arabella (nn Bella) and her mum also Arabella.

crackerjacket · 25/01/2018 20:30

Disney.

TroysMammy · 25/01/2018 20:33

I like the name Arabella. It makes me think she should be a ballet dancer.

Daisydaisygivemeyouranswer · 25/01/2018 20:37

Pasta sauce/Italian dish. Never thought of arctic monkeys song however.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/01/2018 20:38

We have an Arabella. It suits her very much. I don't know the song, and I doubt it would have stopped us using that for her name (mostly because it was the only one we agreed on as she's our third daughter).

MikeUniformMike · 25/01/2018 20:45

What is this pasta sauce? Do you mean Arabbiata, which means angry?

Plumes · 25/01/2018 20:55

Don't like it. Reminds me of arable land. Plus Ivanka Trump has an Arabella.

Plumes · 25/01/2018 20:56

Plus it's a bit too frou-frou.

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 20:56

Love it

Belle as nn also

ladyglittersparkle · 25/01/2018 20:58

Don't know the song but love the name. I wanted to name our youngest DD it but DH didn't like it 😔

BeHappyMummy · 25/01/2018 20:59

Gorgeous middle class name.

slowsloth · 25/01/2018 21:01

Don't know the song but I think of Pretty Little Lies the book and the TV show. I'm sure that's the name of the kid who said she was being bullied by Ziggy.

I don't know if it'd bother you but It's not too uncommon in my area, I've met two at the same class. My dd is 3.

slowsloth · 25/01/2018 21:03

Sorry I was wrong. I've just googled it and the character in Big little lies is Amabella. Similar but not the same.

Lavenderdays · 25/01/2018 21:39

We have an Arabella. Absolutely love it - no regrets. On a day to day basis she is called Belle and then will probably use Arabella a bit more as she gets older x
